Your family does not have to give up pasta, pizza, tacos or quesadillas to eat better.

I took the comfort foods families already love and added warm Indian spices, flexible ingredients and healthier choices.

Which one would disappear first at your table?

Comment PASTA, TACOS, QUESADILLAS or PIZZA.

Here’s a quick and simplified recipe for a 30-minute chicken biryani:

Ingredients:
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons Deb’s Biryani Spice Blend
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 4-5 cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- Fresh coriander and mint leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste

Instructions:

1. Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 15 minutes.

2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.

3. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown.

4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for an additional minute until the raw smell disappears.

5. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.

6. Add chopped tomatoes, Deb’s Biryani Spice Blend and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.

7. Mix in yogurt and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the chicken is well-coated.

8. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Stir gently to mix the rice with the chicken and spices.

9. Pour in enough water to cover the rice, about 4 cups. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15-18 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.

10. Once done, fluff the biryani gently with a fork. Garnish with fresh coriander and mint leaves.

Your quick and delicious chicken biryani is ready to be served!
