**Reclaiming Your Voice is a community-centered weekend designed to help young people (aged 15 - 25) reconnect with their purpose, strengthen self-advocacy skills, and build meaningful relationships and connections with their communities.
***Through intergenerational storytelling, guided reflection, and practical skill-building, participants are supported to recognize their talents and move confidently toward personal, professional and community goals.
Core Themes:
Knowing Your Why – understanding values, motivations, and direction
Community Is Created – relationships are intentional and nurtured
Self-Advocacy – speaking up for yourself and your community
Lateral Love - Reframing your purpose (Why) as collective to uplift rather than personal achievement. Along with the other three core pillar themes, lateral love shifts advocacy from me first to us together.
Event Goals:
By the end of the weekend, participants will:
Build self-esteem and confidence in their voice
Recognize existing talents and identify new skills to develop
Identify challenges they care about and explore ways to address them
Develop foundational advocacy, planning, and fundraising skills
Strengthen connections within the African Nova Scotian community
