Sports enthusiasts, have we got some exciting news for you! The first-ever Amateur Sports
Awards event took place on March 5th in Surrey BC, recognizing exceptional athletes from a
variety of sports, including soccer, wrestling, kabaddi, field hockey, cricket, UFC, Olympics, and
Commonwealth Games.
It was an inspiring evening, with athletes from all over Canada being recognized for their hard
work and dedication. Congratulations to all the award winners and a big thank you to Title
Sponsor Zee TV Canada and Zee 5 Mr. Amit Khanna, and Mr. Garry Sangha of CCI Group of
Companies who were co-presenting partners, as well as everyone who helped make this event
a huge success!
Padamshiri Pargat Singh Olympian, specially came from India to attend this event, Consul
General Mr Manish as well as local government was a part of the event, as Hon. Harry Bains,
Minister of Labour, Hon. Rachna Singh Minister of Education and Child Care, Hon. Ravi Kahlon,
Minister of Housing, as well as Sukh Dhaliwal MP Surrey Newton, Jinny Sims MLA Surrey
Panorama and Leader of the Opposition, Kevin Falcon were there
as well to support the athletes.
Goldie Dhillon and Ron Dhaliwal organized the event, with the goal of promoting the importance
of sports in society and recognizing the efforts of outstanding athletes. But it wasn't just about
the awards - the event also created a meeting place for athletes from different sports to interact,
network, and learn about each other.
Representatives from various sports organizations were in attendance, including Surrey Eagles,
BC Tigers, Surrey FC, Canadian Mal Wrestling Club, Field Hockey Canada, Cricket Canada,
and many more.
