We want to speak directly to our community about the heartbreaking incident that took place last night on the road outside Holland Park. A 14-year-old boy was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle.
One of the investigating officers later reported that the incident did not have any connections with the festival and was unfortunately a result of impaired driving. The suspect has been arrested for both impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
Our hearts are with those affected, and we are doing everything we can to support the community.
The BC Halal Food Festival is about community, unity, and diversity. We will continue with those values at our core.
