Attention everyone,
I hope this message finds you well! We wanted to reach out to all our valued vendors to share some news regarding the Shediac imternational flea market. We recently received an email from the town of Shediac informing us that, starting this year, our rent for the arena will be increasing significantly. This news caught us off guard as we weren’t informed of this change beforehand, and unfortunately, it wasn’t included in our budget.
Organizing events like this always comes with its challenges, and with this unexpected increase just two months before the show, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year's flea market. We always aim to inform our vendors about rental fees well in advance, encouraging early payments to secure their spots for the following year. It’s perplexing for us that we received notice of this rent increase only recently, especially since these matters are typically included in the municipal budget, presented in late fall, and voted on by the council.
We fully understand that costs can rise, but we are unable to adjust our fees for this upcoming year, as our vendors have already been notified about the 2025 pricing. Adjusting our rates now wouldn’t be fair or feasible, which unfortunately leaves us with no other choice than to cancel this year’s flea market.
We’ve reached out to the town of Shediac to confirm next year’s dates and costs, as we genuinely hope to continue this cherished flea market tradition. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause you.
We truly hope to present this wonderful event next year, as it has been a part of Shediac for over 15 years.
For vendors who has already paid for this year Flea Market, we will be sending you a full reimbursement within the next two weeks.
