Dear Friends and Community Partners,

On November 1, 2025, Grace Gardens Funeral Chapel marked 15 years of serving St. Paul and the surrounding communities. As we considered how we wanted to recognize this milestone, we kept coming back to one thing: gratitude. For 15 years, our community has trusted us, supported us and allowed us to be part of some of the most important moments in the lives of local families. We felt the most meaningful way to celebrate was not only to bring our community together, but also to
give back.

We are pleased to invite you to our: COMMUNITY APPRECIATION BBQ & FUNDRAISER Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

In partnership with the St. Paul Hospital Foundation, we will be raising funds to help renovate and refresh the Palliative Care space at St. Therese Hospital.

Our hope is to help create a warmer, more comfortable and welcoming environment for patients and their families during a time when comfort, dignity and togetherness matter so much.

Our commitment to the project goes beyond fundraising. In addition to the funds raised, our Grace Gardens team will be volunteering our time to assist with the refresh, and we look forward to being personally involved in bringing the project to life.

The afternoon will also be our opportunity to say thank you to the community. We invite you to join us for complimentary BBQ, What’s the Scoop Ice Cream Truck, bouncy houses, live music and fellowship.

There is no cost to attend and no formal program. Please feel free to stop by anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. Donations toward the Palliative Care project will be gratefully accepted for those who wish to contribute.

Whether you come to support the project, help us celebrate this milestone, or simply enjoy an afternoon with neighbours and friends, we would be very pleased to have you join us.

Fifteen years ago, this community gave Grace Gardens a place to call home. We can think of no better way to celebrate than by giving something back.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁. 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗧 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿

This week, I joined Ron Wirsta, Chairperson, and Yvon Caouette, Vice-Chairperson of the St. Paul, AB & District Hospital Foundation, in Edmonton for an important meeting with Minister Adriana LaGrange to continue advocating for a CT scanner at the St. Therese–St. Paul Healthcare Centre.

This meeting was an important next step in an effort driven by the St. Paul, community. The Foundation has done tremendous work building the vision, bringing the community together, and raising $1 million toward making a CT scanner in St. Paul a reality. With that incredible community support behind us, our focus is now on making the case to the Province for why this investment is needed.

The meeting went very well. Minister LaGrange asked clear and thoughtful questions about the proposal, the needs of the hospital, and how a CT scanner would strengthen healthcare delivery in the region. Ron did a fantastic job answering those questions and making the case for St. Paul, drawing on the work the Foundation has undertaken and what they have heard from the community. Yvon also brought the Foundation's perspective to the table and helped reinforce the strong local support behind this project.

I appreciated the Minister's constructive approach to the discussion. The conversation was encouraging, while Minister LaGrange was clear that any future investment must be considered within the realities of the provincial budget and alongside healthcare priorities from communities across Alberta. She also provided valuable feedback on areas where we can continue strengthening the case for St. Paul.

There is a process to moving a major healthcare priority like this forward: build the vision, demonstrate community support, raise the funds, make the case, and keep advocating until we can get it built. The Foundation and the community have already accomplished a great deal, and this meeting represented another important step in that process.

At the centre of this effort are the people providing care every day. Jamie Malone, Site Manager at the St. Therese–St. Paul Healthcare Centre, along with the physicians, nurses, diagnostic imaging professionals, healthcare workers, and support staff at the hospital, work incredibly hard to care for patients from St. Paul and surrounding communities. Giving this team the ability to perform CT scans locally would provide another important diagnostic tool to assess patients, support emergency and inpatient care, and help determine the appropriate next steps, including when transfer to a higher level of care is required.

For patients and families, that could mean more diagnostic services closer to home and fewer trips to other communities for imaging. For our healthcare professionals, it would strengthen the capabilities available to them right here in St. Paul. It is about giving a strong local healthcare team more of the tools they need to care for patients in their own community while strengthening the broader rural healthcare network our region depends on.

Thank you to Minister LaGrange for taking the time to meet with us, hear the Foundation's proposal, ask important questions, and provide valuable direction on the work ahead. I also want to recognize Ron Wirsta, Yvon Caouette, and the entire St. Paul & District Hospital Foundation Board for the extraordinary work they continue to put into this initiative. Raising $1 million toward a CT scanner is a remarkable achievement and a powerful demonstration of what can be accomplished when a community comes together behind a shared goal.

There is still more work to do, and that work will continue. I will keep working alongside the Foundation, our local healthcare leadership, and the community to make the case for this important investment and help move a CT scanner in St. Paul from a community vision toward reality.

Every great production has its unsung hero who steps in at just the right moment… and absolutely nails it 🎬✨

A huge thank you to Darryll, our surprise guest star, who stepped in when our board member Bill was unable to participate in the filming.

With zero hesitation and full commitment, Darryll jumped right into the scene—pushing a hospital cart with such ease, confidence, and purpose that it honestly felt like he’d been part of the cast all along. One of those moments where everything just clicks, and the story keeps rolling without missing a beat.

It’s not always planned, but sometimes those last-minute pivots create some of the most memorable moments… and this was definitely one of them.

Every great episode needs that behind-the-scenes hero in scrubs 💉✨

A big thank you to Carmen, who stepped into the role of the Nurse / CT Scan Technician in our Happy Days Gala production.

Carmen brought the perfect blend of professionalism and nostalgia to the screen, complete with a classic-era nurse uniform that tied right into our 1950s theme. It was such a fun detail that helped bridge the world of our story with the heart of the hospital we were all there to support.

She played her part with ease and a calm confidence that fit the scene beautifully, adding authenticity and a little extra charm to our drive-in movie “episode.”

A little spotlight moment for one of our scene-stealers 🌟🎬

A huge thank you to Jamie, who stepped into the role of Potsie and absolutely nailed it.

There’s a certain kind of energy Potsie brings—bright, musical, a little quirky, and completely unforgettable—and Jamie captured all of it with effortless charm. From filming to final cut, she leaned right into the role and made it feel like she had been part of the cast all along.

Honestly… she played it so perfectly we’re convinced she should have her own star on the floor at the hospital 💫

A big shoutout to Pat, who stepped into the role of Ralph Malph and absolutely leaned into the spirit of the night.

Ralph is the guy who never takes himself too seriously, always ready with a line, a grin, or a moment that lightens the room—and Pat captured that energy perfectly. No hesitation, just full commitment to the bit, which made every scene more fun and every moment a little more alive.

What really stood out wasn’t just the character, but the willingness to jump into something completely unexpected and just enjoy it. That kind of spirit is what turned this “board project” into something guests are still talking about.

Every Happy Days family needs a Howard Cunningham... the steady, dependable dad who keeps everyone on track while somehow finding himself in the middle of the adventure 🎬✨

A big thank you to Lyle for stepping into the role of Howard Cunningham in our Happy Days Gala movie production!

From the moment filming began, Lyle embraced the character and helped bring our drive-in movie vision to life. Whether it was delivering his scenes, sharing a laugh with the cast, or rolling with whatever creative twist came next, he was all in.

What made this project so much fun was watching our board members transform into these iconic characters, and Lyle did a fantastic job bringing Howard's warmth, humour, and classic dad energy to the screen.

Thank you, Lyle, for being such a great sport and for helping turn a wild idea into one of the most memorable parts of the evening. Your willingness to jump into character helped create something truly special for our gala guests.

A big thank you to Miranda for taking on the role of Marion Cunningham in our Happy Days Gala movie production!

With grace, warmth, and a wonderful sense of fun, Miranda brought the beloved matriarch of the Cunningham family to life. She jumped right into the spirit of the project and helped make our drive-in movie experience feel authentic, entertaining, and full of heart.

What started as a crazy idea quickly became one of the highlights of the evening, and that only happened because people like Miranda were willing to step outside their comfort zone, embrace their character, and have some fun along the way.

Thank you, Miranda, for being such an important part of our cast and for helping create a movie that had our guests smiling from beginning to end. We couldn't have asked for a better Marion Cunningham 💛🍿✨

Sometimes the stars of the show aren't actors at all... they're dedicated volunteers willing to say "yes" to an adventure. 🎥🌟

Every drive-in movie needs a little charm, a little heart, and a character everyone loves 💕🎬

Mandy embraced the role with enthusiasm, humour, and a willingness to jump right into the fun. From the first scene to the final cut, she helped bring our 1950s-inspired movie to life and added so much personality to the production.

What made this project so special was watching our board members trade board meetings for movie scenes, and Mandy was a perfect example of someone who wasn't afraid to lean into the experience and have fun with it.

Thank you, Mandy, for being such a great sport, for bringing Joanie to life, and for helping create a movie that had our gala guests laughing, cheering, and talking about it long after the credits rolled 🍿✨

Your performance was just one more reason our board's drive-in movie adventure was such a hit 💛🕶️🎥.
