Regina Saskatchewan is a great city to host an event like this as it is a great hub of creativity. We strongly believe that we have a responsibility to help showcase new filmmakers and talents from around the globe. To show our appreciation, we will present award winners with our prestigious silver screen award named the “Regina International Film Festival Award” or RIFFA. RIFFA is a Canadian Academy qualifying festival for Canadian Screen Awards. We are also very passionate about supporting the mental health community through one of our programmes, the LOOK: A Film/Mental Health Initiative.

And then, it was time to celebrate. 🏆🎬

After a week of screenings, conversations, industry events, and stories from around the world, the RIFFA community came together for one final celebration.

The Awards Ceremony brought filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and audiences together to recognize the work that made RIFFA 2026 possible.

We were honoured to hear from Regina’s Mayor, and to celebrate the evening with a powerful performance by Savannah McBean, a dynamic multi-genre performer whose voice moves effortlessly through R&B, soul, contemporary, and theatre.

It was more than an awards ceremony. It was a moment to celebrate the people, stories, and creative community that make RIFFA what it is.

Here’s a look back at a very special night.

A great story deserves a chance to go further. 🎬

During RIFFA 2026, the Emerging Screenwriters Fellowship cohort stepped into the room to pitch their feature film projects to a panel of Canadian development executives.

Events like this are about more than pitching a script. They create a space for emerging screenwriters to put their ideas forward, receive industry insight, and begin building the relationships that can help move a project from the page toward the screen.

For Saskatchewan and the Prairies, creating these opportunities matters. A stronger film industry starts by giving local storytellers the space, connections, and support to develop their voices and bring ambitious stories to life.

Great films start with great connections. 🎬

During RIFFA 2026, film professionals from across Saskatchewan and beyond came together for an afternoon of conversation, collaboration, and connection at our Industry Series Networking Lunch.

Because building a stronger film industry isn’t only about what happens on set. It’s about the people you meet, the stories you share, the ideas you exchange, and the relationships that continue long after the festival ends.

Creating more spaces for Saskatchewan’s film community to connect means creating more opportunities to collaborate, learn from one another, and build what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this gathering part of the RIFFA experience. ❤️🎥

Stories deserve to be seen. And every voice deserves a space to tell them. 🎬

On August 17, RIFFA had the privilege of sharing the films created through LOOK, a RIFFA Foundation initiative that brings participants together in a safe, supportive environment to explore filmmaking and cinematic expression.

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and creative collaboration, this year’s participants developed their own films and brought their unique perspectives to the screen.

Seeing these stories shared with an audience during RIFFA 2026 was a powerful reminder of what happens when people are given the space, support, and opportunity to create.

LOOK is about more than making films. It is about developing skills, building connections, finding creative expression, and creating a community through the shared language of cinema.

To the filmmakers who shared their work with us, thank you for trusting us with your stories. And to everyone who joined us for the screening, thank you for being part of their journey.

Films are meant to be shared. 🎬

There’s something special about sitting in a room full of people and watching a story unfold together.

The anticipation before the lights go down. The laughter that moves through the room. The silence during a powerful moment. The conversations that begin as soon as the credits roll.

Throughout RIFFA 2026, we had the privilege of sharing these moments with filmmakers, audiences, volunteers, industry professionals, and our community.

Every seat filled, every reaction, every conversation, and every story shared became part of the experience.

Because cinema isn’t only about what happens on the screen. It’s about who we experience it with.

Thank you to everyone who gathered with us this year and helped make RIFFA 2026 a celebration of the communal power of film.
