Back by popular demand!

Calling all photographers - Sharpen up your lenses. The “Best Bird of The Festival” photo contest was very popular last year and boy, did the judges ever have a hard time choosing the best photo. This year we’re limiting each photographer to 2 submissions. That way, you do a lot of the judging for us!

Penetangear Clothing has generously agreed to sponsor the contest again this year. You can read the contest rules below.

Oh my goodness! Can you believe Becky made this beautiful Queen-sized quilt! She can't even count the hours of work. It's 88” x 100” and reversible!!! What is she going to do with this beautiful creation? She is DONATING it to the HFBF silent auction!!!

The Saturday evening silent auction and banquet is probably full by now, but if you haven't already registered, you can always go on a waiting list. Sometimes people, who sign up in March, find they can't make a particular event, so they drop out and voila! There's a space or two available for the first people on the waiting list!

When she showed us her handiwork, there were at least 2 people who wanted to start the bidding right then and there! Sorry. We all have to wait for May 23, at 5:00 pm to get our hands on that bid sheet.

Tired from the first 3 days of birding and festivaling? Needing to relax? You can have it all - relaxing AND birding all in one event! A nice leisurely event spent on Marshall's cool decks, just watching the antics of the abundant wildlife. If you feel like taking a walk, there's lots of places to walk and new things to see. Even if you've done this event in years past, there's always something new going on in Marshall's back yard. And he never runs out of new stories to amuse you. He often puts on the kettle for a cuppa too.

A BIG SIT AT MARWANDA ESTATE

Leader: Marshall Byle
Wide covered porches offer viewing in all directions. We’ll also wander the trails through pine plantations, check out bluebird nest boxes, and the ponds for lurking waders and waterbirds.

Events are filling up fast! More than half are fully booked, some with waiting lists. But that means there's still room on almost half the events! Don't wait too long though. Here's a good one that's almost full. There's only 3 spots still available on Ashley Hegmann's Beginner Birder Basics. This event takes place on May 23, the first Saturday morning of the festival. Obviously word got out from last year that if you're interested in getting started and joining your friends in this wonderful activity called “birding” here's your chance for a proper introduction to birding that will leave you wanting more!
