Rick Hunter’s Hunterline will keep going.

A lot of us have a Hunterline bridge or trestle on the layout somewhere. When Rick passed away recently, we weren’t sure those kits would still be available. They will be. Fast Tracks has bought Hunterline.

Rick used Mt. Albert Scale Lumber in his kits. We’ve owned Mt. Albert since 2017, so the wood in those boxes was already coming from us. Adding the kits only made sense.

We’re not changing them. Same detailed drawings, same parts, same instructions and same quality. We’re going through the line, kit by kit, and will start putting them on the Fast Tracks website in September.

The Hunterline weathering stains are not part of the transition. Someone else is looking at buying that line, and we’ll pass on what we hear.

Do you remember that scene from the 1970 movie 5 Easy Pieces where Jack Nickolson just wants to order some toast at a diner, but they tell him they don't sell toast? So he orders a Chicken sandwich, on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce, and hold the Chicken. Well, we had a similar experience with a customer last month. He ordered a Lumber Store, then told us to hold the rack, and just send the wood. That got us thinking we should add some pre-selected wood bundles that can be easily ordered to get customers started with Mt. Albert Lumber. So that's just what we've done. These bundles have the same collections of stripwood packages as our popular Lumber Stores, but on their own. Mt. Albert sponsors an annual award at the NMRA Conventions. The award focuses on the best use of wood (any wood) in a model. This year, the judges chose Scott Lister's entry, and we can see why! It is a great use of our wood and an excellent model. They also awarded him First Place - Scratchbuilt Model, First Place - Structures and The Most Photogenic Model Award. All well deserved. Scott writes...

"I entered this model that took me 21 days to build in the NMRA model contest in Texas, and, ironically, it won the Mt Albert scale lumber award because every piece of wood came from Mt Albert. That said, I'd like to personally thank you for sponsoring that award at the NMRA nationals, and like I tell everyone who asks me where I purchase my wood, I tell them there is only one place to buy scale lumber, and that's My Albert.
