3/3 We added a new element to the tournament this year. We had U9s play a game to give the older players a break before the finals. We saw a random group of Ridge Meadows Burrards play a team mainly from Coquitlam Adanacs, but also had players from Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and Langley. We hope to continue this tradition in the future.

This year’s Service Award went to Andrew Guindon. Andrew is an integral part of the Burnaby Lakers Minor Association and has just recently coached in the Vancouver Warriors Elite Program and head Coach for the U13 Team BC team that finished 2nd in Halifax this past summer.

This year’s champions were a team that came out of no where, team leader was Justin Digby. First time entry and quickly became the team to beat in this year’s tournament. The Outlaws went undefeated leading up to the Finals. Beer Hunters had the tie breaker advantage vs the Burnaby Fire team by a 3 goal differential to be the other team in the finals. Outlaws came out of the first half with a 3-1 lead. At the end of the regulation time it was 6-6. Sudden death overtime would decide this year’s champion. The game winning goal was scored by Lukas Neilsen. This year’s MVP went to Noah Armitage.

Other stand out players of the day were Marcus Davis, Adam Noakes, Ross Manson, Randy Jones, Connor Stroup, David Bigley, Joel McCready, Brett Mydske, Craig Smith, Brodie Gillespie, Austin Ducomonn, Kai George, Gordy Phillips, Blake Duncan, Alex Bodin, Toru Morimatsu, Anthio Yuen, Russ Heard, Ian Paterson, Ryan Leonard, Jordan Magnuson, Patrick Szabo & Keifer Flynn.

Looking forward to Hunters Cup 18 in 2026!

17th Annual Hunters Cup has officially been completed. One of the best ones so far. Even though the forecast said it was going to rain, it remained clear.
We raised $6200!!! We had 5 teams participate. The teams were the back to back champions Burnaby Fire, the host Beer Hunters, the reliable Antikis, first timers Vancouver Fire and the Outlaws.

All proceeds go to our good friend Chris Lesanko. Chris relies on our annual donation for his rehabilitation costs each year. We hope he can come join us sometime soon in the future. Chris lives in Regina. Chris and his family are extremely thankful for everyone’s support. For more information about Chris:

The 15th annual Hunters Cup happened this past Saturday and it had many firsts. It was a challenge leading up to it but everything worked out in the end.
Ridge Meadows Burrards Association came up huge with helping out with the field a week before the tournament. Richard Bonner, Toomaj Tahamtanzadeh, Shayne Bennett and Kevin Miotto helped prepare the field the days before.
Currently we don’t have a final tally on how much we raised. Should be +$4000. We were missing the P**n Squad team there. Will hopefully know in a few days. All proceeds go to our good friend Chris Lesanko. Chris relies on our annual donation for his rehabilitation costs each year. We hope he can come join us sometime soon in the future. Chris lives in Regina.

Burnaby Fire Department are your 2023 Hunters Cup Champs! They came in ready to play after winning gold at the World Fire & Police Games just over a month ago. They have been in the finals many times but could never beat the Beer Hunters or the P**n Squad in the past. They went undefeated all day and beat the defending champs 7-3. Tournament MVP was Colton Porter. Porter had a strong tournament and came out big in the finals scoring 4 goals. He led the entire day with 6 goals.

This years Service Award went to Will Lockwood. He can always be found at the lacrosse fields, coaching multiple teams including Team BC. Thanks Will for all your hard work!

Whalley Ballers participated in their first hunters cup. It was a learning experience for them and we hope they come back in the future.
There were 7 teams who participated in the tournament. Surrey Fire, Beer Hunters, Burnaby Fire, Whalley Ballers, Tri City Eclipse, Antikis, & Washington. We had a World Fire & Police Games Gold Medal there, as well as the Ross Cup and the BC Sixes Championship Trophy there as well.

Some of the stand out players were: Matt Beers, Ben Davies, Brodie Gillespie, David Bigley, Dan McQuade, Brenan Shea, Alex Millin, Dean Stewart, Alexander Schreck, Joe Finnell, Jake Wider, Cliff Smith, Reese Callies, Anthony Buono, Joel McCready, Tyler Codron, Garrett Billings, Patrick O’Meara, Shawn Williams, Alex Bodin, Coady Adamson, Pat Butler, James Rahe, Nick Jones & Ian Poole.

Big thanks to the volunteers and refs. Chelsea Hay, Jenna Jones, Tiffany McNabb?, Christie Hay, Jennifer Foulds, Robyn Ryan, Kim Susheski, Ashley Da Silva, Beer Hunters, Brayden McIntosh, Jordan Ditchfield, Kerry Susheski. This doesn’t happen without all your help!
Referees: Nick Thomas, Nick Dos Santos, Perry McCulloch, and Dave Schmirler did an amazing job. Probably the first time we had real refs for the whole tournament.

Huge thank you to the sponsors and other volunteers this year: Lacrosse Experts - Steve Neufeld, Cottage Springs, Kanaka Liquor Store, Ridge Meadows Burrards, Gerry Van Beek, Kinectiv Sport & Health - Dr. Bryson Chow, X-Treme Threads - Connor Clough, Chris Hay, Sam Cook, New Westminster Sr A Salmonbellies, City of Pitt Meadows, Russ Heard, Darkside Creative, Victory Trophies, Ben Davies, Matt Morehouse, Joe Finnell, Matt Codron, Chris Lesanko, Papa Leo’s (Pitt Meadows), Trevor Scheffel & Nice Life.

See you at Hunters Cup 16!

Thanks Cottage Springs!
