The Lost Chord Coffeehouse

The Lost Chord Coffeehouse A coffeehouse style open mic that runs on the 3rd Saturday of the month from October through April.

04/11/2026

CB Magic is our featured performers to close off our 13th season of the Lost Chord Coffeehouse.
Rob Bonaldo and Niki Vandenberg were born and raised in Niagara Falls. Ironically, they both went to the same high school but never connected.
Not long after high school, Niki was singing in bands while Rob was jamming with friends. Many years had passed by, then one day they met in Crystal Beach, and it was magic!
Realizing they had similar taste in music and their voices blended well together, then began playing covers songs making them their own.
Soon after, they would take their acoustic, porch jam style to the open mic scene. The next natural step was moving onto gigs to support and entertain in the local establishments and events.
From not connecting in high school, to becoming the magical duo they are today, CB Magic is sure impress with their strong vocals and on-stage chemistry.
So come and join us Saturday, April 18th at the Guild Hall, 72 Charlotte St. in Port Colborne.
Doors open at 6:30pm and show starts at 7pm.
Volunteers and baked good donations are always welcomed.

Thanks Greg

Hello Coffeehouse Fans,

This month’s feature we present Greg Upshaw.

Born and raised in Toronto, Greg has been playing guitar and singing for 50+ years. Having lived in different locations throughout Canada, he has always brought music with him wherever he went.

Greg formed a band in the early 2000's "Greg Upshaw and the Ulterior Motives" which brought performing experience and the recording of his original music. Those songs are now available on Spotify and YouTube.

In 2008 he was nominated for a Bernice Adams Award in Cambridge, Ontario and a KW Arts Award in Kitchener Waterloo, Ontario both in the music category.

His move to the prairies developed and appreciation for old country and popular classics performing for seniors and infirmed people in rehabilitation centres and senior communities.

Since moving to Niagara in 2018, Greg has been playing at different venues that are complimentary to playing acoustically such as Farmers Markets, Butterfly releases, and several Christmas events. He has also been lucky enough to be included in the Trail Mix project in Niagara Falls for several of the past years.

Greg continues to perform and write and looks forward to many future years filled with music.

So come on out and join us Saturday March 21

Guild Hall, 72 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne

Our February show is our annual "Song Writers Night". All the music you will hear this Saturday will be written and performed by our "Oh so talented" local musicians, no covers allowed. So if you've written some music, and we know many of you have, the time to strap on that instrument and shine is this Saturday.

This month we feature, Robert Bedard.
Join us Saturday, February 21st at the Guild Hall, 72 Charlotte St. in Port Colborne.

Doors open at 6:30pm ~ Show starts at 7pm.

We have had more than a few requests for this man to be the feature.Robert Bedard began his musical career in the early 70’s, singing and playing harmonica in some of Toronto’s first Blues bands. In 1969 he met Blues great Paul Butterfield, a friendship that would last 18 years and have a strong influence on his musical career. Other musical influences have included Bob Dylan, Tom Russell, and Buddy & Julie Miller.

When Rob joined ‘Brass Knuckles’ - a 9-piece Rhythm and Blues band, he sang vocals and played harmonica. It was here; he met his wife Tory who was a singer in the band.

Rob was later a member of the PRJ band – a Blues & Roots group that performed a steady gig at the Simcoe Blues & Jazz in Oshawa for 11 years.

For over 25 years, as their duo known as ‘Wild Oats’ Rob has been playing their blend ofAmericana and Roots music in venues in and around the Durham area and New York State. Since moving to Niagara Falls in 2020, Wild Oats continue to play within the Niagara Region including retirement homes and The Crystal Chandelier in Crystal Beach.

Our January show is fast approaching.
This month we feature, Gunter Weller.

Join us Saturday, January 17h at the Guild Hall, 72 Charlotte St. in Port Colborne
Doors open at 6:30pm ~ Show starts at 7pm.
We hope to see you all there, and always, feel free to volunteer to help out any way you can.
Without disclosing his age, Gunter has obviously been a citizen of this troubled world for a few years.

His involvement with the folk music idiom started in his early years and has been a constant intellectual and emotional part of his life.
Acquiring an inexpensive guitar early on, he admired the styles of Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, John Fahey, and the like.

In all these years, Gunter has never managed to master any of the styles he so admired but he did manage to acquire enough skills to provide a backdrop for his greater interest… song writing!

Writing songs has become more central to his life since retiring from his construction business. His song writing was influenced by people such as Bob Dylan, John Prine, Joni Mitchel, Tom Waits, Fred Eaglesmith, and of course, Gordon Lightfoot.

He confesses to the borrowing of the occasional word, phrase or idea from songs written by "my friends in the folk community".
He has, religiously avoided, plagiarism and hopes they forgive him for any minor indiscretions.

Gunter is grateful for the gift of music, the gift of musical expression, and is immensely grateful for the opportunity to perform his songs in a congenial atmosphere without any pretense to profundity.

His attitude is most aptly expressed in the words of Van Morrisson "it's just a song".

Hello Coffeehouse fans,
Our November feature is a very talented young women, Emma Plant. Come on out this Saturday, November 15 at the Guild Hall.

Emma has been performing since she was nine years old — starting out on the cello before exploring a variety of instruments and eventually finding her voice on guitar and bass. By the time she was old enough to play in bars, she had already built a full repertoire of covers and original songs.
At twenty, Emma hit the road on a cross-country tour with a reggae band, performing both as a backup singer and as their opening act. The experience broadened her musical influences and gave her a taste of performing on larger stages across the country.
While reggae isn’t a big part of her current sound, its rhythms and spirit continue to shape her songwriting and performance style.
Today, Emma fronts her band LAZY DAYS, known for leaving audiences feeling a little lighter, more connected, and ready for a good time. Their sound weaves together rock, pop, folk, and the occasional edge of punk energy.
Emma has just released her third single, “Force Field,” now available on all major streaming platforms and YouTube.
