The science fair season is wrapping up for us, but we aren't quite done! One of our Renfrew County finalists, Stella Ziegler from Fellowes HS (Renfrew County District School Board) was on CBC Radio Ottawa's All in a Day this afternoon to talk about her amazing kombucha leather project! Great work Stella!

And as of 3 am when we got on our bus to leave campus, it's over! Thank you for following us on our Canada Wide Science Fair adventure. And it's never too early to think about next year's project! And if you want to talk ideas, the science fair committee is here to help!

And we ended the last full day of the Canada Wide Science Fair with a festival! Dancing, circus, ice cream and all sorts of activities to spend the last night with almost 400 new friends!

Day 7 of the Canada Wide Science Fair and it's almost over! 😭😭😭

We had more public viewing today, then met the platinum and best in fair winners to pick up tips for future years, took down our projects and started to say our goodbyes!

Tonight is a farewell dance and very early tomorrow morning we're on our way home!

Congrats Jiya! It was our pleasure to take you to CWSF as an honourary Renfrew County finalist!

Congratulations to Jiya Savsani for winning her second bronze medal at the National Canada-Wide Science Fair in Edmonton where she competed against 400 of Canada's top youth scientists!
Jiya is a STEAM student whose project on optimizing ways to harness renewable energy sources on highways earned high praise.

Students from across the Ottawa Valley and northeastern Ontario brought home national recognition at the Canada Wide Science Fair 2026 after presenting innovative projects on renewable energy, flood impacts and biodegradable materials. Local finalists earned medals and special awards while representing the region in Edmonton.

We ended Day 6 of the Canada Wide Science Fair with big wins for Renfrew Canada!

Abigail Baker from Valour JK-12 School in Town of Petawawa won a Shad Canada special award, Henry Hocking from Mackenzie Community School, Deep River ( Town of Deep River, Ontario ) won a junior bronze medal and Jiya Savsani from West Ferris Secondary School in North Bay won a senior bronze medal! Way to go team Renfrew County!
