The MAC - McMillan Arts Centre

The MAC - McMillan Arts Centre The McMillan Arts Centre is a community arts centre serving the Oceanside area of Vancouver Island, The MAC started life as the McMillan School in 1913.

Mothers of WWI soldiers erected a cenotaph directly in front of the school building, which sits at the intersection of McMillan Street and Memorial Avenue. Trees were planted along Memorial Avenue up to the frontage of the school building and remain to this day a beautiful boulevard leading to the Arts Centre. The school closed in 1976 and the Oceanside Community Arts Council took ownership in 1986, continuing the tradition of education and arts through the School for Creative Arts. Galleries, gift shop and studios celebrate and support local artists work. The Makerspace organization and the Metal Arts Guild share the lower level of the MAC.
