Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... The Longest Johns! 🎶🪕

The Longest Johns will play in the Barney Danson Theatre at 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 9.

This chart-topping folk group is known the world over for their rollicking harmonies and raucous energy that are blowing new wind into the sails of traditional sea shanties and work songs. Formed in 2012 across a kitchen table in their native Bristol, they bonded over a passion for traditional maritime folk music, interwoven with a wry humour, a taste for all things digital. and a flair for their own songwriting – ancient meets modern down by the docks. Constant gigging over land and sea, coupled with a rare command of social media and a string of quality releases, saw them build a devoted fanbase at home and abroad. Their breakout moment came in 2021, when their rendition of ‘Wellerman’ went viral on TikTok, sparking the ‘Shanty Tok’ craze that became a global resurgence in sea shanty music and saw the band sign to Decca Records. This year, they have released their tenth album to round up the Pieces of Eight project – an EP a month for eight months, culminating in the 24-track compilation. In 2026, they’ll continue to take folk music back to its roots by many routes, playing more than 100 shows across the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia.

Rapper, singer, Internet sensation DijahSB is a Black non-binary artist rapping their way through hope, heartbreak, and breakthroughs. Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... Dijah SB! 🎶

Dijah SB is set to perform on the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa Stage at 7:45 PM on Sunday, July 12.

Influenced by the unguarded creative processes of Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco, they express themselves freely and unapologetically unique.

From Brazil, Australia, the US and the UK, they've amassed a cult following of creatives and fans who follow their Twitter for an unfiltered look at their life and opinions—from sports takes to political stances, offering a view into the world of an everyday artist trying to be heard, facing trials and tribulations head on. Over the years, Dijah has released EPs, LPs and mixtapes. In 2021, they released the critically acclaimed album Head Above the Waters, a kaleidoscope of lyricism, honesty, and clear vision that earned them increased attention and a spot on the 2021 Polaris Prize Shortlist, one of Canada's most coveted awards for songwriters.

Dijah's third LP The Flower That Knew tells their arc of wins and losses from the perspective of a flower. Accompanied by long-term collaborators Harrison, Cheap Limousine, and Veggi Beats, Dijah flows over soulful, bright beats with ease and purpose. The lesson is clear: through harsh storms, rough soil, snow or rain, a flower knows it's all part of growth. "Even before I grew into the person I was, I knew I would be destined to bloom." Recently, TFTK earned Dijah's second Polaris Prize Shortlist and their first Juno nomination in 2025 for Best Rap Album of the Year. With every release, Dijah moves closer to living comfortably, happily, and being a voice for the LGBTQ+ community.
