Hello everyone,
This Sunday February 16, TSN will host the annual Sandra Schmirler Foundation Telethon during its broadcasts of the three Scotties draws that day (9am, 2pm and 7pm).
Please see the information below on Sandra Schmirler and the Foundation. Steve Doty, our club's Vice President and a Director with the Foundation for many years, tells us they have set a goal of raising $1 million from Sunday's Telethon. Donations made now will be counted towards the Telethon tally.
And the Scotties will be fun to watch with local representation on Teams Inglis (ON), St. Georges (QC), Homan (CAN) and Weagle (NU).

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation raises funds to purchase life-saving equipment for premature and critically ill babies in Canada.
Sandra Schmirler was a three-time world curling champion and Olympic gold medalist. The mother of two daughters under three years of age, cancer took Sandra’s life in 2000 when she was just 36 years old.
The Sandra Schmirler Foundation was founded in 2001 to preserve her legacy as a champion, mother and friend. Since then, the SSF has donated more than $8 million to Neo-natal Intensive Care Units in over 100 hospitals across Canada in all provinces and territories.
The SSF’s primary fundraising source is the annual Telethon broadcast on TSN on the first Sunday of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Thanks to the generosity of curling fans across the country, the SSF raised over $1 million from the Telethon last year. The SSF is hoping to meet that target again this Sunday.
Donors can call in to the Telethon on Sunday at 1-866-210-6011 or donate online at the Sandra Schmirler Foundation webpage.
