I always seem to be early, but it was instilled in me as a kid to always be on time. 😊 What an absolutely beautiful day this is going to be and what better way than to enjoy an outdoor art show in the quaint village of Newburgh. We hope to see you at the Stoney Steps Artfest and also check out the Hollow Square Market.

One more artist to feature for TODAY's event, Robert Gauthier!

β€œI am enjoying retirement with my partner Marie on Varty Lake near Yarker Ontario. I was employed as a Supervisor for forty-six years at Weston's Bakery in Kingston. During that time I also built decks and kitchen cabinets.

After retirement, I purchased a lathe which proved to offer a hobby which is both enjoyable and rewarding. I am a member of the Kingston Woodturners and enjoy the friendship and camaraderie within the group. I enjoy this type of Artistry and appreciate the positive feedback received during Sales and Shows I have attended.”

See you soon, Robert!

Good morning! We are two days away from Stoney Steps Artfest 2024.

This morning, we are featuring Donna Gowthorpe!

"As a resident of Eastern Ontario, I draw endless inspiration from the local landscapes and the serene beauty of Quebec. My extensive travels through England, Ireland, and Scotland with my husband, Geoff, deeply influence my artistic vision, blending these diverse experiences on my canvas.

Under the mentorship of the late Anneka Chapman-Daley (Keirstead), I honed my skills in oil painting, focusing on depth and texture. My work ranges from abstract interpretations to traditional representations, capturing the emotional essence and detailed beauty of nature. Using a palette knife, I create rich textures and layers, inviting viewers to see and feel the landscapes.

My goal is to craft art that resonates across generations, offering a timeless connection to the natural world. Through vibrant hues and dynamic depth, I bring the beauty of these landscapes into homes, creating pieces that are visually striking and deeply meaningful.

Explore my collection and join me in celebrating the remarkable beauty from the rolling hills of England to the picturesque scenery of Eastern Ontario and Quebec."

We are thrilled to have you joining us, Donna!

Let's wrap up this Wednesday evening with our next feature artist for this weekend's Stoney Steps Artfest, Mark Pierce.

Hand made art from reclaimed metal roofing, giving each pierce it’s own unique character. Mark started with maple leaves and progressed to birds, flowers and other interesting items in nature.

Thank you for joining us, Mark!

We are so close to Stoney Steps Artfest 2024, and we have a few more artists left to feature!

Please help us in welcoming The Plan B Collective!

Sisters, Heather and Emily have a passion for knitting, sewing and quilting which is how The Plan B Collective was started. Having a hard time finding suitable knitting bags, they decided to make their own and currently have 3 original designs for a variety of projects, including a new quilted project bag.

During the pandemic both sisters spent a lot of time at a local quilting store and have developed a love of both quilt piecing and machine embroidery. Both allow them to flex their creative muscles and make some unique items.

Make sure you stop by and say hello!
