Even though Barry is going through his own battle with cancer… his team keeps pushing on.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to every volunteer, supporter, sponsor, and community member who has stood beside us on this journey. Your generosity, time, and belief in our cause have made a lasting impact on patients and families facing cancer.
Today, we are incredibly proud to officially recognize the lasting impact of the Biker’s Reunion by unveiling the newly named Biker’s Reunion Cancer Treatment Centre at Temiskaming Hospital.
What began in 1999 as a fundraiser for cancer care and a celebration of the thrill of riding motorcycles quickly became something much bigger. By 2004, the Biker’s Reunion had grown into an annual event, moving to a larger venue and welcoming thousands of bikers and non-bikers alike to a family-oriented gathering unlike any other. Year after year, between 6,000 and 25,000 spectators attended, creating memories, friendships, and a sense of community that continues to live on today.
Over the years, the Biker’s Reunion has donated more than $6 million to cancer care charities, with over $2 million donated directly to Temiskaming Hospital. Those contributions have made a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of patients and families throughout our region.
Naming our Cancer Treatment Centre after the Biker’s Reunion was a decision made with deep gratitude and admiration. Barry Phippen and his entire team have shown what true community spirit looks like. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to helping others continue to leave an incredible mark on our hospital and beyond.
Barry’s humility and selflessness have always stood out. While he is often recognized for the success of the Biker’s Reunion, he is the first to share that recognition with his amazing committee, the army of volunteers, supporters, sponsors, riders, families, and behind-the-scenes individuals who made it all possible. This event became what it was because of an entire community of people who gave their time, energy, and hearts to a cause bigger than themselves.
To Barry and everyone who helped build the Biker’s Reunion into something so meaningful — thank you. Thank you for the lives you have touched, the care you have helped provide, and the memories you have created for our community over the years. We are truly fortunate to have people like you in our corner, and this recognition will serve as a lasting reminder of the incredible impact you have made.
