Membertou Trade and Convention Centre is Cape Breton’s premiere meeting and convention facility. We are located in Membertou, a Mi'kmaq community just minutes from downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia. Our facility offers 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Our largest room, the Great Hall, can seat up to 850 people theatre style and 550 banquet style. Located within our building is Kiju’s Restaurant. As one of the top 10 restaurants in Sydney, what we have to offer at Kiju's can be summed up in three words: Fresh. Friendly. Fresh, because our Chef incorporates fresh ideas, uses fresh ingredients, and creates fresh house made meals that would make Kiju proud. Local, because at all times, at least 40% of our ingredients are sourced from local Nova Scotia suppliers. This percentage is much higher in the Summer and Fall months. 🧡 June is National Indigenous History Month 🧡

As we begin National Indigenous History Month, we reflect on the resilience, strength and spirit of Indigenous Peoples. Despite generations of challenges, our culture, traditions, and identity continue to thrive and be celebrated with pride.

For Mi’kmaq people, community is family and our connection to our heritage remains deeply rooted in who we are.

This month offers an opportunity to celebrate Mi’kmaq culture and honour our traditions, spirituality, language and the rich history that continues to guide us today.

Throughout June, let us celebrate the beauty of being Mi’kmaq and continue sharing our stories with future generations.

The drum artwork featured in this image was created by Kathy Denny of Eskasoni, a talented Mi'kmaw artist. Visitors can also find some of her beautiful paintings available for purchase at the Heritage Park!

We were proud to host several events during East Coast Music Awards 2026 weekend at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre and to welcome so many talented artists, guests, and visitors from across the East Coast and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the week such a success. We loved being part of the celebration and can’t wait to do it again! 🙌
