🎃 I’ve brought in this fabulous epic papier-mâché jack-o-lantern to my space at The Four Points Vintage Market for all the serious Hallowe’en collectors! It has its original handle still intact along with some melted wax in the base leftover from time of use waaaaaay back when!

🎃 The Brindle Boston The Brindle Boston next door has 2 left after a very exciting debut a few days ago!

🎃 A little history on these fascinating objects:
These highly collectible jack-o-lanterns were created in the 1930s and were made out of paper pulp with holes to create a face with a very fine vellum backing inserted with illustrations of eyes, nose and mouth inside. Small candles were used inside for a brief time to create the glowing, spooky effect and for children to light their way trick or treating

🎃 Early Hallowe’en decor in the 1920s & 30s was made in Germany for the most part, but after World War 2, Hallowe’en decor became mainly produced in the USA. As time passed, Jack-o-lanterns were produced out of metal and then plastic

FACT: Theft is inevitable in retail but that reality still doesn’t take the sting away when it happens.

To the thief:
Stealing from a small, solo-run, local business like my own is top tier sh*tty.
I don’t expect you to have any kind of conscious but please know that you’re not only stealing from a small business, you’re taking revenue from my household income, one I work my tail off for as solo provider to my family.
