Longlac Walleye Master 2026

Once again anglers, community and volunteers gathered for what has become one of the biggest attractions to our humble home. This years event saw a slight decline in competitors however the level of competition was truly narrowing with the end result being just .03 lbs.

With a not so favourable forecast leading into the weekend anglers and organizers were left with an uneasy feeling in their guts, being that the previous few years weather truly had hindered parts of the event. However thanks to some grace from Mother Nature and an ol’ wives tale (hanging a rosary on a clothes line. Thanks Tania) helped keep the skies clear and winds manageable for the event to be another success.

Once again this year the LWM teamed up with some great people from near and far to add some extras to the event. A kids event was held on Saturday while anglers were out competing and the giggles, smiles and painted faces gave the feedback that was aspired to achieve. The Live streaming of the event was a great success for those who could not attend, and we cannot express enough gratitude to the one and only Scottie Martin from Canadian Fishing Network (CFN). His play by play is truly top tier with the perfect level of knowledge and humour to entertain the onlookers from far and wide.

As most have come to realize and appreciate it takes many many hours of dedication and organization from not only the committee but also from the volunteers, the municipal workers and our partners/sponsors. To compile and write a full list would be too extensive therefore, we the LWM Committee would like to express our extreme gratitude and humble acknowledgment of all those who play a part in every aspect of the event.
Without these working relationships and efforts none of what we do would be possible.

In closing we would like to remind everyone that next year the LWM will see a fairly significant change as we are moving forward with the Pro/Am format, offering a two tier level of competition, registrations are not yet open as we are working hard to formalize a complete layout of this structure. Stay tuned to the LWM page for details throughout the off season.

Congratulations to Our 2026 Top Young Angler – Sam Tailleur

Winning a tournament at his age is an incredible accomplishment, and it's proof that time, dedication, and hard work truly pay off.

A special tip of the hat goes to his dad, Miguel Tailleur, for investing so much time, knowledge, and patience along the way. Champions aren't created overnight—they're built one lesson, one cast, and one day on the water at a time. The memories made and the values passed down are just as important as the trophies.

Samuel, you've earned this recognition, and your future in competitive fishing is incredibly bright. Congratulations on being named the 2026 Longlac Walleye Masters Top Young Angler! We can't wait to see what comes next.

Your determination, skill, and passion for the sport truly stood out on the water. Competing against an incredible field of anglers and coming away with this achievement is something to be proud of.

Thank you for being an inspiration to women in fishing and for showing that dedication and perseverance always pay off.

🎈 Creating Smiles Beyond the Water ❤️

At the 2026 Longlac Walleye Masters, we believe the best tournaments are about more than fishing—they're about bringing an entire community together.

A huge thank you to Le Club des Francophones de Longlac, GEDC, and MTW Employment Services for creating an incredible Kids Activity Zone throughout the weekend.

Seeing children running from game to game, proudly showing off their painted faces, and hearing their laughter across the grounds reminded us that events like this are about families just as much as they are about fishing.

Your volunteers, creativity, and dedication transformed a corner of the tournament grounds into one of the happiest places all weekend.

Thank you for helping us build an event where everyone—from our youngest guests to our most seasoned anglers—felt welcome.
