THIS is why better support for new moms should be STANDARD practice. One check in on her uterus and vaginal healing at 6 weeks is NOT enough. A woman's brain chemistry literally changes when she becomes pregnant and goes through labour and delivery and the postpartum period. It is incredibly difficult even with a strong support system. Women without a support system are being set up for failure.
This is why Flora's Walk is so important to me. Moms deserve so much better so that we can be there for our children. Happy, healthy children NEED happy, healthy moms.
I am one of the LUCKY ones. I had incredible support from my husband and my family doctor while I struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression. I came out the other side, relatively quickly. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and my support team is in place to help me navigate this second postpartum period and hopefully avoid depression this time.
I am so thankful this mom kept her baby safe. I also hope that she is safe and someone can find her and get her the help that she needs.
Moms need more.
