🌱 Vancouver Island gardeners — anyone else noticing how DRY this spring has been already? ☀️💧
After weeks without meaningful rain, many local gardeners are finding soil dry deep into the root zone much earlier than normal.
A few timely reminders for the community this season 👇
✅ Water seedlings more than you normally would in spring
✅ Mulch EARLY this year to help conserve moisture
✅ Heat-sensitive crops may need afternoon shade
✅ If early crops struggled during the May heat wave — don’t panic, there’s still lots of time to re-seed
And believe it or not… we’re already reaching the time of year to start planning some winter vegetables 🌱🥬
