Keene is turning 200 years old!

Can you believe it?! Luckily, Keeners (we who live in Keene) have kept track of the history and heritage. To honour it, and Keene's growth, community events will be held throughout 2025. Here are some ideas so far: A mayor's new year's levee, an intergenerational bonspiel, a historical walking tour, Canada Day celebrations, a holiday house contest, an open-doors event, and The Keene Pumpkin Festiv

We proudly acknowledge that Keene is located on Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory and in the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nation.

That's a wrap, folks!

Our year-long commemoration of Keene's 200 anniversary has come to an end - and what a success it was! Thank you to everyone who contributed; whether you volunteered, donated, participated or sported our community pin - it added to the magic!

Keep an eye out for a list of formal thank yous to come, because without you, we couldn't have done it. It was a community effort.

Have you always wanted to be on a Christmas float, but never had the opportunity? Well, this Saturday is your chance!

We're looking for one adult and a handful of kids to (wo)man the Otonabee - South Monaghan Public Library float during the Keene Santa Claus Parade.

It's happening this Saturday and kicks off at 10 a.m.

Its official ..the OSM Children's Christmas Tree was just lite up a few minutes ago!

Its to be an annual event sponsored by the OSM Historical Society, In memory of the dedication of Gayle and Jack Nelson to the community.

Congratulations to all the volunteers that made this happen. The tree looks great and the large crowd that gathered to witness it, enjoyed a hot chocolate while they were entertained.

As one "keen" observer noticed..This event was very popular!

The deadline for the Village of Keene House Lighting Contest is fast approaching - are you ready?

Judging is happening Monday night (December 1st) so get your lights up!

Registration forms are available on the Otonabee-South Monaghan Township website https://www.osmtownship.ca/ under the Keene 200 tab.

The categories are: High Tech
Children's Appeal
Traditional

The winner of each category gets $100! Prizes will be awarded December 6th.

St. John the Evangelist Church in Keene is hosting a special candle-light mass to honour the 200th anniversary of the Nine Ships. Everyone is welcome!
