Today, May 26, is officially recognized as World Dracula Day, honoring the publication of Bram Stoker’s legendary novel Dracula in 1897. More than a century later, Dracula remains one of the most influential figures in horror, gothic culture, cinema, and dark literature.

What makes Dracula timeless is not just the vampire myth itself, but the atmosphere surrounding the character. The novel introduced readers to a world filled with shadows, castles, fear, seduction, and the eternal struggle between darkness and humanity. Its influence can still be seen today in horror films, gothic fashion, music, and modern vampire stories.

Over the decades, countless actors portrayed Dracula, but few became as iconic as Bela Lugosi, whose haunting performance in Dracula helped define the vampire image we still recognize today.

🖤GARGOYLE LORE

Gargoyles were never meant to be feared.
They were placed high up to guard—
not just buildings, but what was inside them.
Watching.
Holding the edge.

I have one on my front porch.
I sit out there a lot…
and he stays exactly where I placed him.
Not decoration.
He’s there for a reason.

Old belief says they don’t chase anything away.
They don’t need to.
They watch.
They hold the line.
They keep things from getting too close in the first place.

That’s always made sense to me.
Because real protection isn’t about reacting to everything.
It’s knowing what gets to come near you…
and what doesn’t.

Some things are meant to stand at the threshold.

I trust that kind of protection.
