A FEW RACE-DAY SNEAK PEEKS! 📸🐐

A huge thank-you to our photographer, Dave Graham, for sharing these first glimpses from Walk in the Park!

Dave is a familiar face at events throughout the Kamloops running community. You’ll find him out on the course, behind the finish line and everywhere in between, dedicated to capturing athletes at their strongest, happiest and most determined.

We’re incredibly grateful for the time, talent and care he puts into documenting these moments for our community.

The full Walk in the Park photo album will be available over the next couple of weeks. For now, enjoy this first look and stay tuned for many more incredible race-day memories!

Thank you, Dave!

6 DAYS TO GO! 🐐⛰️

The countdown to the 33rd Annual Walk in the Park is officially on!

For more than three decades, runners have gathered in Kenna Cartwright Park to take on the climbs, soak in the views and become part of one of Kamloops’ longest-running trail traditions.

This year, it could be your turn.

Choose your challenge: 8 km, 14 km, 25 km or 50 km and meet us at the finish line!

Registration closes Friday, September 4. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

We are one week away from Walk in the Park!! We sincerely hope these weekly videos have helped you build your nutrition plan for race day as strongly as you have built your training plan for running race day!

NUTRITION TIPS FROM AMANDA: Energy Dips are Feedback
If you’re hitting the wall, crashing mid-run, binging junk food afterwards, or feeling drained later in the day, your body is asking for more support, not more willpower. These are often fueling gaps, not fitness issues. Tweaking your daily diet, pre-and-during-run fuel, or recovery snack might be needed.

Simple place to start: Look at your full day. Are you eating enough overall, spacing meals too far apart, or missing carbs, fibre, protein, or healthy fats? Western culture tends to consume most calories at the end of the day, when our bodies work much better when we front-load calories earlier in the day. It’s also very common to undereat on a day-to-day basis, especially for athletes.

Each Sunday leading up to Walk in the Park, Amanda will be sharing nutrition tips for runners!

We want you ready for Kamloops favorite trail race on September 6!

Let us know how your training is going! We want to hear from YOU!

We asked a few of our repeat offenders, or should we say finishers of Walk in the Park, what they remember most of their race experience. Some are sentimental, some are there for the food. But most are there for the energy this race fills them with, after they cross the finish line.

Here are a few notes:
🍕hot food waiting for them at the finish line
🧊 the ice cold freezie that brought them back to life
🔥 the energy from the crowds cheering them in
🙌 seeing old friends and the fact that they are still getting out there together

For 33 years this race has brought trail runners out for so many different reasons. As a past participant (Clint) and volunteers (both of us) and now as race directors we love to hear these things.

We might be biased, but the reason people come back to Walk in the Park is how they feel after they cross the finish line. It may have been hard, but they are excited to do it again. And again.

Do you want to be a part of this energy? Sign up today! https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=130423
