When one of these extraordinary people fall on hard times, it is our job as a community to rise up and provide support to them and their families. ch other as a community, with all our diversities, as we extend love to ourselves and others. Pause and Love - A Community Committed to Love will be an annual fundraiser/gala that will occur every February 14th (A Day of Love). The theme for Pause and Love this year will be 'Diner en Blanc'. We were inspired by LoveButton.org and felt compelled to create an annual event in our own community to spread the love. As we begin to harmonize deeper as a community and create actions together married in love, miracles are born. This annual gala will be like a living, breathing organism that will continue to morph in new and profound ways, year after year, as we all continue to step into the loving. Love ALWAYS wins in ALL ways. For our first event we feel honoured and privileged to support two local families who lost their fathers too early. In their time of grief, we wanted to extend love and support to these families. We know we cannot take away their loss or their pain, but within our community, we can celebrate these two amazing lives. Proceeds from this event will be directed towards these two families as a testament of love in action. Our first 'Pause and Love Heroes' are Sebastian Gardner and Christopher Seguin. Both of these honorable and amazing men had generous hearts filled with love and were positive role models for our community. Sebastian was a respected and generous member of our community who truly had a heart of gold. He lived courageously on his journey with cancer until his passing on March 26th, 2017, leaving his wife, Cassie, without a husband, and newborn daughter, Yael, without a father. Christopher was deeply respected, generous, and a dynamic member of our community. He lost his life suddenly on September 22nd leaving behind his beloved wife, Melissa, and their two very young sons. It is our intention to allow our community to have a voice each year moving forward to nominate who they feel should be our next Pause and Love Heroes. There are many unsung heroes around us. We are so overjoyed to announce that both of the founders of LoveButton.org, Dr. Habib Sadeghi and Dr. Sherry Sami, will be present at our first annual event and our keynote speakers! Dr. Sadeghi has just launched his third best selling book 'The Clarity Cleanse' and will be speaking about 'Clarity: The Art Of Removing What Is Not Love'. Each couple that attends our event will be given a copy of his book ($35.00 value) and will have the opportunity to have it personally signed by Dr. Habib Sadeghi. We also feel very grateful and privileged to welcome Coleman Barks, who is an American poet and retired English professor at the University of Georgia. Coleman has collaborated with various Persian scholars to bring the poetry of the 13th century mystic, Rumi, into the free verse of the English language. He has written many bestsellers over the last 40 years. We also welcome Lisa Starr, who is a two time recipient of the Rhode Island Fellowship in Poetry, and has published three amazing books. This inspiring evening will also include live musical entertainment by the amazing Cathi Marshall, the incredible talent of Bee's and the Barebones, as well as a magical performance by Krista Faraday's dancers of the Academy of Dance! We will also have a live and silent auction among other festivities. As our community gathers in fellowship and love the evening of Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre, we will witness miracles in all forms. We would feel so honoured to have you to stand with us, heart to heart, stepping forward into more love and more light. Blessings to all.
