The Final Bow: A Note of Gratitude ❤️
As the curtain closes on the final Dance Summit, my heart is incredibly full. This journey has been a whirlwind, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the community that made it possible.
A special thank you to:
• Reanna Maitland: For being so supportive and providing such meaningful, lovely adjudications this season ( not to mention she is in the 5x club !!) for our dancers.
• Our Summer Students (Daphna, Paige, and Emerie): For your incredible hard work and dedication throughout the event.
• Marissa and Helaina: For doing so much behind the scenes to keep us moving.
• Rick: For never saying no when I asked for help—even when it might have been the smarter choice! 😉
• Wendy at the Theatre: For your vital support in helping us bring this vision to life on stage.
To the schools, dancers, and families who have attended over the years—and especially to HSD for your unwavering support year after year—thank you.
My goal has always been to help every dancer who stepped onto our stage gain a little more confidence, recognition, and perspective. My mantra for this festival has always been: "Your best is ALWAYS enough—but once you show your best, you can never go back."
As I retire as Director to focus fully on my family, teaching, and adjudicating, I look back on this chapter with so much pride.

I hope my best was enough.

On to the next chapter! 🥂

In dance, the most important part of the movement is the 'finish'—the moment where the energy settles and the audience exhales. After more than a decade of Dance Summit and the many years of Burn the Floor that preceded it, the time has come for our final finish.

This year will be the last year for the Dance Summit in Hinton.

From the very first beat of Burn the Floor to the incredible artistry we’ve seen at Dance Summit over the last 12 years, this festival has been my heart’s work. We have watched a generation of dancers grow up on our stage, found community in the wings, and celebrated the grit and grace of the performing arts in the Rockies.

I would like to invite the Hinton public, our alumni, and our friends to join us one last time. Let’s fill the seats, cheer for these incredible athletes, and celebrate the legacy we’ve built together."

After this year’s event, Dance Summit Hinton will be taking its final bow.

Over the past 12 years, it has been an incredible honour to be part of so many dancers’ journeys. What began as a dream just minutes outside Jasper National Park grew into something far more meaningful than we ever imagined.

As the event has grown and evolved, we have reached a natural transition point. After much reflection, we have decided it is time to close this chapter with gratitude and pride.

While our role as presenters in Hinton is coming to an end, our love for dance continues. We will always be cheering dancers on from the wings and remain deeply involved in the dance world as teachers, performers, and adjudicators.

Thank you for being such an important part of our story. Dance Summit would not have been what it was without you.

Where did the time go? From our early years in the Recreation Centre, through the virtual “pandemic years,” to the theatre experience we have today—Dance Summit has grown into a place where dancers can learn, grow, and shine in a supportive, friendly environment.
As we look ahead to our 12th season on May 2–3, 2026, I am filled with gratitude. Thank you to every dancer, teacher, studio, and family who has chosen to be part of our event over the years. We know there are many opportunities out there, and we have truly loved being part of your dance journey.

Good morning!
Dance Summit is a small dance festival with a big heart! Held May 1–3, 2026, just 20 minutes from Jasper National Park in Hinton, Alberta. Our event takes place in the charming PATH Theatre, and typically runs Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of extending to three days (Friday–Sunday).
We are the perfect fit for smaller schools looking for valuable stage experience and high-quality adjudication in a supportive environment. Our entry fees are very reasonable, our medals are beautifully designed, and most importantly, our focus is on kindness—ensuring every dancer feels truly seen and recognized.
Dancers of all levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome. Our guiding mantra is: “Your Best is ALWAYS Enough!”
