Celebrated Mi’kmaw artist Alan Syliboy brings to life a heartwarming story about friendship, courage, and traditional knowledge. When best friends Wolverine and Little Thunder set out to fish for eels, they come face to face with a legendary giant, testing their bravery and the strength of their bond.
Beautifully animated and deeply rooted in Mi’kmaq culture, this short film inspired by Mi’kmaq petroglyphs reminds us of the sacred connection between people, land, and water. 🌊✨
🎨 About the Director:
Alan Syliboy is a renowned Mi’kmaw artist from Millbrook First Nation, Nova Scotia. His vibrant art and films draw inspiration from Mi’kmaw petroglyphs and storytelling traditions, celebrating identity, spirituality, and connection to the land.
In 2010, Alan was selected to participate in the Vancouver 2010 Venues Aboriginal Art Program at the Winter Olympics. He created the mural People of the Dawn, a series of 12 panels celebrating Mi’kmaq culture, and led the group sculpture Keepers of the Eastern Door. That same year, he presented a portrait of Grand Chief Membertou to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Halifax. His 2010 animated film Little Thunder received the Best Animation Film Award at the First Peoples Festival in Montreal.
