TONIGHT! Don't miss Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival at Corktown Park! It's the most magical night of the year ✨

There will be performances by dancers and musicians, installations by video artists, and a parade featuring everyone in attendance – including you!

There will be fire!

Light up your clothes, shoes, walking poles, bikes, strollers, mobility devices.
Wear glowing crowns, tiaras, bracelets, necklaces.
Create lanterns, lamps, lances, and any other portable artworks made with lights that you can come up with!

Refreshments will be available, bathrooms will be open.

Join us at Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival this Sunday, December 21 at Corktown Park from 5-7pm to celebrate the longest night of the year.

There will be fire, entertainment and activities including Pivot Centre for Collective Action and Elders 4 Climate Sanity leading a communal expressive arts activity. Together, we will be wring-writing (wringing out feelings of grief, anxiety, anguish, overwhelm through repetitive writing) words, thoughts and messages for the solstice on a large scroll of paper. Our paper scroll will be incorporated into the sculpture that is burned in the fire finale of the festival.

Elders for Climate Sanity, a subgroup of Hamilton 350, is a group of climate activists currently challenging Canada’s “big banks” investments in “big oil”.

See the video installation by Edgardo Moreno at this year's Hamilton Winter Solstice Festival on December 21 at Corktown Park!

Edgardo Moreno has been commissioned for projects in Canada, Venezuela, Mexico, Sweden, Argentina, England and USA, and has written scores for films produced by CBC, Bravo, City TV, NFB, OMNI, Ontario Arts Council, History Channel, TVO. He has worked extensively with contemporary dance choreographers creating sound design and musical scores. He is a recipient of a DORA award for his sound and music composition for Diana Lopez's NOMADA.
