Start StArt is a local organization that supports emerging artists of all disciplines. Based out of K’jipuk

Now entering its fourth year, the StArt Festival is a multidisciplinary festival of emerging artists based out of the Bus Stop Theatre in K’jipuktuk / Halifax, Nova Scotia. With two days of performances and art installations, featuring upwards of fifteen artists, the festival creates a hub of activity that allows emerging artists to connect with engaged audiences. We would like to acknowledge that

our festival and programming takes place in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) people first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
