🌊🧜🏽‍♀️ Join us for the Ocean Week Halifax Annual General Meeting at Patagonia Halifax on September 24th.

Whether you attended events this year, volunteered, or simply love our local ocean community, we’d love to have you with us.

We’ll be reflecting on the past year, electing incoming board members, and connecting over prizes, goodies, and ocean conversation.

Date: Thursday, September 24th
Location: Patagonia Halifax (1496 Lower Water St)
Schedule: Doors open at 6:30 PM | AGM starts at 7:00 PM | Mix & mingle to follow.

Help shape the future of ocean connection and celebration in our city! 🌊

Ocean Week Halifax is growing, and we are officially looking for passionate community members to join our Board of Directors. As a registered non-profit society, our mission is to make ocean literacy, stewardship, and ocean connections accessible, inclusive, and impactful across Kjipuktuk / Halifax.

We are currently looking to fill key leadership and executive roles, specifically seeking candidates for Vice President, Secretary, and Fundraising Director. Whether you bring experience in those areas, non-profit governance, or simply a deep passion for our local ocean community, we’d love to have your perspective at the table.

Feeling shore-ly blessed by this incredible crew! 🌊💙

A massive shoutout to all the volunteers who helped us bring Ocean Week Halifax to life! From helping out with beach cleanups to being a mascot for the day, our volunteers made serious waves!

We are so lucky to have a community that cares this deeply about protecting our ocean playground. To everyone who donated their time, energy, and ocean-loving spirit, THANK YOU! We literally couldn’t do this without you.

Seeing these huge number really does remind us how meaningful the work we do is! So THANK YOU all for coming out! 🥹

This was our biggest year so far and we’re so thrilled to keep celebrating our connection to the blue planet! 🌎

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait 11 months to celebrate again. It’s been 1 month since World Ocean Day, but good news - we can celebrate the ocean every single day!

World Oceans Day!

Participating partner: McNabs Island

The Friends of McNabs Island is a registered charity dedicated to preserving and protecting McNabs and Lawlor Islands Provincial Park and Fort McNab National Historic Site located in Halifax Harbour on Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast of Canada.

As stewards of the island park, the Friends of McNabs Island carry out a number of programs from organizing Beach Cleanups, collecting more than 16,000 bags of garbage over the past 30 years; Trail and Garden Maintenance, improving the coastal trails that offer spectacular coastal hiking and restoring an abandoned Victorian Garden on the island; Outdoor Education, establishing an Outdoor Education Centre and offering guided nature and heritage tours to schools and the public.

The Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) is a national nonprofit dedicated to conserving wildlife and habitats through research, education, and advocacy. The CWF Marine Team will be attending this year’s Oceans & You event to share their work supporting the conservation of large whales including the critically endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. With a focus on research co-led with fisheries, the Marine Team supports the development of sustainable fisheries including the use of On-demand Fishing Gear.
