To all the athletes, here is an update...
The event starts at noon. The rules meeting will be 11:45am.
Deadlifts will be for reps with a 90 second time limit. The weight used is not determined yet, as we still have people who have not given their estimated max deadlift. Please do so, as we use this to best determine an appropriate weight for this event. We want every one to be competitive and have fun. Don't make us guess a weight that is best. For this event you CAN USE STRAPS for grip. So bring some! You CAN USE A BELT! So bring one. You CANNOT use a deadlift suit. So don't bring it.
For the farmers walk. You will have a runway, you turn around at the end, then come back to the start. 90 second time limit. You are judged on time. If you do not complete the course, you are judged on distance. You don't need to complete this to rack up points, you just need to get down the track and cover distance.
The truck pull...girls will use a harness and pull the truck like the video shown a couple days ago. Men will pull the truck hand-over-hand like the video shown a couple days ago. This is also a timed event of 90 seconds. If you don't get to the end by 90 seconds, that's okay, your distance is measured. You keep racking up points.
Death grip challenge. You will have two bumper plates you will hold by your sides (not out in the air...by your side against your leg). No sticky substance is allowed. But chalk is okay. No liquid chalk!! Girls will have 15 KG bumper plates. Men will have 20 KG bumper plates. Weights may change come day of the event. This is for time. It will last as long as the last person can hold the bumper plate. Should be be fun. There is a video uploaded on this site for this one too.
The tire flip. This will be straight forward, you flip the tire down the track. 90 second time limit. If you make it to the end of the track you are given points by your time. If you don't make to the end by the end of 90 seconds, you are given points by the distance you covered.
This is how the points work...
If there is 10 people in your group, at the end of an event the first place person gets 10 points. Second place person gets 9 points. Third place person gets 8 points. 4th place person get...you get the point. The 10th place person in that event gets 1 point.
You all move onto the next event and the person who got the most points gets to go last. The person who got the second most points gets to go second last, and so on.
Some events you may struggle, but you'll collect points as long as you participate. Some events you'll do well and get even more points. End of the day, your points all add up, so don't quit! :)
The person with the most points wins! Pretty simple. This is how most strongman events run, with the same point system, time limit, etc.
Remember, this is going to be a fun event. We want every one to do well. It will also likely run around 3 hours, so bring food, etc.
More info to come with weights used and who is in what groupings. We are still getting people trickling in!...
