Day 1 recap-
Trophy- things went bad for our trophy team right away when BC rider Owen McKill's bike wouldn't fire on the start ramp. The problem was found to be a faulty kill switch but cost Owen 8 minutes at the first check point. Things went well for the rest of the day until later in the afternoon when Loic Leonard fell and injured his shoulder. Loic still finished the day with decent test times and feels he will be able to manage the injury with some taping and pain killers. So the team is still intact. Tyler Medaglia and Phil Chaine had uneventful days with the exception of the dust which had most riders changing air filters two or three times during the day.
Junior Trophy -
Our junior team of ISDE rookies, Tavin Krutop, Morgan Franklin and Jacob Kolman all had a good day with consistent test times and no problems. They all took care of their bike maintenance and tire changes like they were veterans.
Women's Trophy -
ISDE veteran Shelby had a solid day and sits in 9th place. Rookies Zara Bertram and Megan Sharpless had good days until the last check point of the day where they both lost time due to a huge backlog of riders at the start of the special test. Later our jury representative, Mario Jakowski let us know the time loss was removed from their scores because of the problem at the special test.
Club teams lost Wyatt Bruder when he fell and injured his shoulder badly. He was taken to the hospital. Looks like he's torn ligaments and separated his shoulder. Katie McGreachy got lost and missed test 3 when she was given some bad directions from an official who pointed her to loop 2 when she was still finishing loop one. Club riders are allowed to restart so she will start day two.

Thanks to the Pre- runners who leave an hour before the riders when it's still really cold and barely light out.
They make sure no trees fell down overnight or arrows got pulled.
Still haven't got a picture of our sweep crew who make sure everybody and every bike gets out of the woods. In past years they have finished in the dark. This year I think was a pretty good year for them.

Up until now the registrar has been lenient when riders have asked if they can give their number to a friend if they've become injured and not able to attend The Cord.
This is a lot of extra work for the registrar and a favour, as it clearly states in terms of agreement that there are no refunds or minute transfers. Then, yesterday we were made aware of someone who is selling their start number on marketplace after buying an earlier minute off a friend.
From now on, there'll be no rider substitutions or refunds. When you entered you agreed to these regulations. We apologize to those hurt or with extenuating circumstances, but it’s become an issue of liability, when swaps happen without our knowledge, waivers do not match.
In addition, every rider must bring picture ID to registration when they sign in so that we can ensure that people are riding on their registered minute. Again, very important for liability reasons, you will not be able to sign in without photo ID.
Sorry for this added inconvenience, but there's always someone who takes advantage of a courtesy and we must now deny all requests.

Thank you,
The Corduroy Enduro

The tests are shaping up. I was working with Ian Peters, Mike Smith & Erik Gorasson on the Greens this weekend while Paul was with Darryl, Drew, Vinny, and Dimitri in the new Trooper Lake test. Bob Kendell, Kelly Goreski & Bill Kirby were working on MacDuff's.
Monday I will be back into the Boardwalk test with the NTR club to finish it up.
The TTR which Glenco set up to carry lots of equipment is working great as well as my EE chainsaw mount.
