The Loyal Edmonton Regiment has been a close partner of the Edmonton Marathon for several years. The loss of one of its soldiers at CFB Wainwright, along with the deaths of three other soldiers and the injuries sustained by others, is a tragic reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve Canada and Canadians. On behalf of the Edmonton Marathon, we extend our sincere condolences to the families, friends, and members of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment and extend our gratitude to the first responders and care givers.

🍁🇨🇦 From the streets of Edmonton to the roads of Copenhagen, we’re cheering on Team Canada!
Best of luck to the Canadian Half Marathon Team as they take on the world’s best at the World Athletics Road Running Championships this Sunday in Copenhagen. Fans across Canada can catch all the action live on CBC Gem.

Edmonton holds a special place in championship history, having proudly hosted the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2005. We’re excited to see this generation of Canadian athletes represent the maple leaf on one of the biggest stages in road racing!
