Good morning Everyone,

This is a story that hits really close to home for me and my family. I know that this group worked so hard to raise money for the Stollery which is where young Jayden is receiving the best care that he can. But, one thing that our previous efforts doesn’t fully support, is the families and the financial burdens that are placed upon their laps from not being able to cover bills while their children go through surgeries, tests and chemo. This family is going through enough trouble and hardship with their sons recent diagnosis, that they should not have to worry about the extra burden put on their shoulders of where the money will come from to cover the bills while they support Jayden. If there is anything you can do to help this fellow Stollery family out, please do so and maybe we can take some of the burden off of them so they can focus on what matters most.

Thanks,

Shawn Holkema

Well, the 2022 Kids shoot for kids was a huge success! We blew our original goal of $2,000 right out of the water! With the help of all the kids, families, friends and sponsors we were able to raise $8,904 to support the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.

Archer spotlight!

My name is Amelia Osborne and have been shooting archery since I was 6 years old. Although I have never had to use the Children’s Hospital myself, I have a close friend that has. I want to participate in the Kids Shoot for Kids to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation because of the amazing work they do to help so many families during their challenging times.

Archer spotlight!

Hi my name is Maddie Holkema. I am 13 years old and live in Edmonton, AB. I have been shooting Archery for about 4 years now and loving every minute of it. I mainly shoot compound but I dabble in recurve as well.

When I was 4 years old I was diagnosed with cystic nephroma which was a rare tumour growing on one of my kidneys. Thanks to the great work at the Stollery the doctors were able to remove the tumour. Luckily it was benign but I did loose my kidney in the operation. Since then I have been to the Stollery for regular checks and even when I broke my arm 2 summers ago. The Stollery is a great place for all families and children to find help and feel welcomed. Raising money for the Stollery is my way to say thank you! 😊

Archer spotlight!

Hi my name is Marcus Skinner. I am 10 years old and I live near the village of Chauvin.
I picked up my very first bow 8 months ago and just competed in my first tournament on May 5th.
I really enjoy shooting 3D targets and learning new techniques to help improve my accuracy.

I am excited to be able to fundraise for the Kids Shoot for Kids tournament so I can give back to a hospital that has done so much for my family.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital holds a very special place in my family’s hearts because my cousin, Ethan, who is the same age as me,
spent the first 9 months of his life there undergoing multiple surgeries and many rounds of chemo while battling a cancer called Neuroblastoma.
Thanks to the Stollery, Ethan beat his cancer and I want to raise more money for the hospital so they are able to help other kids kick cancer’s butt too!

Check out Marcus at https://stollerysuperstars.crowdchange.ca/3956/page/15808 to donate!

Archer spotlight!

Hi, my name is Austin Dougherty and I’m a 14 year T1D that lives in Sexsmith, AB. I discovered my love of archery in 2018 after I got my first Recurve Bow for Christmas. The Fundraiser is important to me because I am a Type 1 Diabetic and I regularly use the Stollery Children Hospital to see my Endocrinologist and team. The Diabetes care team are there for me when I need them and they help us at anytime of the day. This make my family and I feel that we can be successful in my Diabetic care. This is my way to say thank you to the Stollery.
