A huge thank you as well to the folks that actually own the trial field !

Les and Marilyn Mitchell and Jason Mitchell and the family. They move the cattle off every year in time for the trial and help in anyway needed. This year it included mowing the thistle so our fetch line was clear for the sheep and dogs!

Western Canadians 2024 Recap

What started as a dream 4 yrs ago became a reality this past weekend … to host a Double Lift Trial in the hills adjacent to my home!

Here are the key people that made it such a success:

Judge Micheal Davidson. Micheal arrived here last Monday, fresh from judging 6 days at the USBCHA Finals in Virginia. Even though he was still jet lagged and bone tired, he jumped right in to help with all the jobs that needed to be done leading up the the trial … including setting up the horribly heavy set out pen! He was polite and respectful to all the handlers and volunteers and did a great job judging the runs … fair and workmanlike.

Justin Hozack. Justin is the behind the scenes person leading up to the the trials we host together. Along with providing the sheep, he provides anything else needed … his knowledge of stock, his Ranger, his trailer, his panels …

Louanne Twa. Louanne was my sounding board throughout the year leading up to the trial. Always available to answer my questions and help me make decisions.

Deanna Tatham. Score person extraordinaire. Her contribution started weeks before the trial began. During the trial all the scores appeared as if by magic. And … she also exhausted sheep and loaded pens.

Lee Lumb. Lee agreed to take on the demanding job of Course Director. Her and Helen Dunning arrived early and worked HARD to help with trial set up. Along with running her dogs beautifully during the trial, Lee kept the trial flowing and the courses challenging.

Peter Gonnet. Peter was needed at home, but while he was here he worked hard looking after the sheep.

I am hesitant to ‘name’ volunteers, but here goes … if I have missed you … please know that it is not intentional. Kudos to all in attendance … your help and support were appreciated.

Louanne Twa, Deanna Tatham, Amanda Labadie, Jenilee Peters, Jamie Spring … arrived early and worked tirelessly until the Double Lift was over.

Helen Dunning. Arrived early, helped with any job asked of her, stayed till the Double Lift was over.

Joan Hozack. Kept us all fed with amazing warm food.

Carla Antal. Does not run a dog yet, but took 3 days off work to help at the trial. She turned into a dandy scribe!

Wendy Schmaltz and the Westerns Committee … supported development of the trial and Wendy stayed to be the Course Director on Sunday.

Randy Dye for stepping in to help plan the Double Lift for Sunday.

Sherry Creech for the photo display, the road sign and for scribing.

Carter and Maddy Sidoryk for the hay delivery and use of your side by side for the weekend.

Gary Leach for putting up with us bunch of crazies and taking care of my critters when I was busy.
