BACKSTAGE LOCAL ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎤

Meet Dan Hick — a multi-talented singer-songwriter who writes and plays every instrument on his current project, joining the lineup for Backstage Local!

Dan's roots run deep: from performing original music on Toronto's Breakfast TV and Lunch TV in 1996, to fronting First Tripp — known across southern Ontario for their ferocious live shows and regular opening slots for bands like Three Days Grace.

Throughout the 2000s, Dan built a reputation on the acoustic circuit with original songs that placed top 10 in worldwide songwriting contests. His recent singles have racked up multiple on PTBO Indie Rock Radio's Top 40 — including a record-setting 7 weeks at #1 for "Beyond The Sky."

BACKSTAGE LOCAL ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎤

Meet Emily Ott — an indie folk/rock singer-songwriter from Pickering, Ontario, joining the lineup for Backstage Local this October!

Emily's sound sits right where folk delicacy meets rock grit — quiet enough to feel intimate, loud enough to leave a mark. Drawing on the confessional intensity of Julien Baker and Frightened Rabbit alongside the timeless songwriting of Ryan Adams and Neil Young, she writes with unflinching honesty about the strain of grappling with mental illness, built on the belief that one song heard at the right moment can remind someone they're not as alone as they feel.

A fiercely self-determined artist, Emily recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered her debut album Settle For Hurting entirely on her own. Her latest single, "I'm Not Enough," is her heaviest work to date, pushing further into electric guitar and indie rock. Recent stages include The Piston in Toronto and Music At The Museum at Theatre on the Ridge in Port Perry.

BACKSTAGE LOCAL IS MORE THAN JUST LIVE MUSIC — IT'S AN EXPERIENCE. 🎤🎸

This October, step inside an intimate evening where 9 local artists take the stage to perform their songs and share the stories behind them. No smoke, no mirrors. Just real artists connecting through raw, honest performances.

New this year: 3 song circles, hosted by MC Clint Cameron, celebrating the incredible talent across Durham Region, Peterborough, Cobourg, and beyond.

🏆 You pick the winner. The audience votes for their favourite performer, and that artist walks away with a paid opening slot at the Rockstalgia Music Festival!

💵 Admission: $5 at the door — 100% of proceeds go directly to the ROCKSTALGIA Local Artist Fund, supporting emerging and established musicians across the region.

🎟️ We'll also be running a 50/50 draw, with all proceeds going to the same fund.
