Kate Healey is the head of CCS, receiving the donation. Thank you, EParker for the pictures and for presenting the donations on our behalf.

Chilliwack Community Services offers so many programs in our community and we are pleased to be able to support them. There are programs for early years, youth, family, seniors, immigrants, and those facing housing challenges. They are such a vital organization.

GWG KEY Club and Kiwanian Barry Birch are “Planting a Row” for the Salvation Army! Pictured here are 24 garden boxes grown by GWG Secondary School Key Club for Salvation Army Pantry and a 10' x 10' garden plot Kiwanian Barry Birtch is growing for the pantry. Key Clubs are high school clubs that are sponsored and supported by Kiwanis groups and we are proud to support two clubs locally.

Did you know you could “Plant A Row” in your garden to donate to the Chilliwack Salvation Army Food Bank! “The Plant a Row For Us program is about inspiring the community to plant fresh produce in their gardens to donate to The Chilliwack Salvation Army’s free grocery store, The Pantry, to make sure that we do not run out of food as we serve over 4000 low income households every month. Our Goal is to bring in 100,000 lbs of produce from the community in the next year!” (Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195159090011102 )

Thank you for another wonderful season, Harrison Tulip Festival!

This year, our Kiwanis Club once again coordinated volunteers at the festival in exchange for a generous donation from the festival’s owners — a local family committed to giving back to the community. The funds will be shared among the many non-profit organizations that volunteered alongside us this season.

When you visited and supported the Harrison Tulip Festival, you were also supporting local non-profits that make a meaningful difference in our communities every day.

The generosity didn’t stop there. The festival also donated returnable cans, and volunteers removed the tabs to support wheelchair purchases for people with disabilities. These tabs are passed along to Ben Hagkull — a Chilliwack native, professional wheelchair basketball player with Team Handisport Forezien in France, and proud member of the Canadian National Wheelchair Basketball Team.

We are grateful for the community spirit, partnerships, and volunteers that made this season such a success! 🌷💛

It is a beautiful weekend at the Harrison Tulip Festival. Our Kiwanis Clubs are grateful to be coordinating volunteers at this event who will share in a generous donation from the Harrison Tulip Festival owners, a local family! When you come to this festival, you support non-profit organizations who contribute much to our local communities. All the more reason to make this a tulip festival of choice. Thank you, Paul and Barry, for the pictures.

This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming Karen, program director from Sardis Doorway for Mothers & Children Society.

For 39 years, this incredible organization has been supporting mom’s in our community through three impactful programs—all while caring for their children with the help of dedicated volunteers:

✨ Sardis Doorway – A weekly support program for moms of young children who are parenting on their own or feeling under-supported.
✨ End Abuse Program – A safe, facilitated group for women who have experienced abuse in a relationship.
✨ Young Moms Program – A weekly group for pregnant or parenting women under 21.

Their work truly makes a difference, and they rely on the generosity of our community to continue supporting local families. We’re proud to support them—and we encourage you to as well!

The Key Clubs we sponsor continue to amaze us. Not only do they serve in their schools - they eagerly offer their services around the community when given the “opportunity”. Here they are pictured at the Chilliwack Multicultural Ramadan Dinner put on by the Streams Foundation Canada that was co-founded by our own Zeeshan Khan. Our Key Clubs at GW Graham and at Sardis Secondary also step up for cancer fundraisers, river clean ups, soup kitchens, and SO much more. Service Leadership is alive and well in our Chilliwack youth and we are so grateful. Streams Foundation Canada Zeeshan N Khan Kiwanis International

We recently welcomed Students of the Month from Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt Elementary Middle School, Mt. Slessie Middle School, and GW Graham Secondary School. Students are selected by staff at their school for various attributes - academics, arts, sports, citizenship, and/or service. Students are introduced by their accompanying staff member, each student is provided with a plaque, and we enjoy chatting with them over breakfast. Many of these students were active in our Kiwanis Super Reader program when they attended elementary school. There are so many talented, motivated, and altruistic youth living in our community.
