Lyne Sexton est une passionnée de pêche à la mouche et la fondatrice d’un événement annuel de pêche à la mouche pour femmes, inspiré par l’initiative d’Orvis visant à créer de l’équité sur les rivières et à introduire davantage de femmes dans ce sport.
En 2018, après avoir réfléchi à la manière d’organiser un événement à la fois amusant et éducatif, Lyne a lancé l’événement 50/50 on the water, qui a grandi chaque année grâce à une communauté solidaire et à des commanditaires généreux. Ancienne enseignante, Lyne suit maintenant les traces de son oncle Reynald Sexton en travaillant à temps plein à la légendaire boutique de pêche à la mouche Sexton & Sexton, située sur les rives de la rivière Grande Cascapedia.
À travers toutes ses activités, l’amour de Lyne pour la pêche à la mouche et la nature brille. Elle est déterminée à faire une différence pour l’avenir du saumon atlantique et a joué un rôle clé dans l’introduction des femmes à la pêche à la mouche. Lyne Sexton is a passionate fly fishing advocate and founder of an annual women’s fly fishing event, inspired by the Orvis initiative to create equity on the water and introduce more women to the sport.
In 2018, after brainstorming ways to host a fun and educational event, Lyne launched the 50/50 on the water event, which has grown every year thanks to a supportive community and generous industry sponsors. Former teacher, Lyne is now following in her uncle Reynald Sexton’s footsteps, working full-time at the legendary Sexton & Sexton fly shop, located on the banks of the Grande Cascapedia River.
Through all her endeavors, Lyne’s love for fly fishing and nature shines brightly. She is dedicated to making a difference for the future of Atlantic salmon and has been a key factor in introducing women into fly fishing. If you drive down to Gaspesie make sure to drop by the Sexton & Sexton fly shop to get your gear and meet with Lyne.
