The BCFFCA would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the family of Peter MacDonald on this terrible loss. Peter was an amazing man who did great things for the CFFCA.
RIP brother. We will take it from here.

Peter MacDonald
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that CFFCA Vice President and Life Member Peter MacDonald of Mermaid, PEI
passed away February 12, 2025. Peter's wife, Marilyn and family were by his side.
Peter was a wonderful person and a great friend. He did everything for this Association and will be greatly missed. Peter was also a 5 time PEI Provincial champion.
He had a long battle with cancer and fought hard.
Rest in Peace Peter.

There is something special brewing in January. As both Canadian Champions for the Canadian Firefighters Curling Association and the Canadian Police Curling Association are from British Columbia they have asked us to have a fun match between the two teams and maybe create some camaraderie between the two Associations.
Our team has agreed to do this at their BC Police Championships to be held at the Qualicum Curling club on January 13 / 2024 at 8:00 pm. They have also graciously invited us to their banquet before the game.
I thought this was a good way to get together with a great group of law enforcement personnel and create some good faith between the two Associations. I hope whoever can will come out and show their support.

Dean Thulin
President CFFCA

As well this event will be live streamed on this site. Saturday January 13 / 2024 at 8:00 pm. Please share this if you like.

Hi All. Thought I would send a little info regarding our upcoming BC Firefighters Provincial Championships Feb. 1 to 4. We have 25 teams registered this year which is great. What is even better is the 22 new curlers this year. This is fantastic! I would like to welcome all the new curlers to enjoy the cameraderie of this great event. Hope everyone is looking forward to meeting with old friends and making new friends this year as much as I am. Have fun and see you next week!

BCFFCA Presidents Report 2018

Welcome to the 2018 British Columbia FireFighters Curling Championships. This year is special as it is our 60th Anniversary of this annual event. It is fitting that we have this momentous event in our Provincial capital of Victoria. The last time we were in Victoria was our 50th Championship in 2008.

There is another reason for celebration this year. 2018 marks the 50th straight year that we have curled with or against Tom Kelly. That is an amazing accomplishment! One that most likely will never be duplicated either Provincial or National. I think we all owe what our Association is today to men like TK. Thank you TK and here’s hoping there are many more years left.

Our last years champions were the Thulin rink consisting of Skip Dean Thulin , Third Ken Dawson , Second Rob Robinson and Lead Mike Caton. These four team mates went to Mississauga , Ontario and made it into a tie for third place and lost in the tie breaker.

This year we are looking for a champion to represent our Province at the 59th Canadian Firefighters Curling Championships in Thunder Bay , Ontario from March 29 to April 7. You read that right , our Association is older than the National. As a matter of fact we are one of the three original provinces that started this great event.

I know that Victoria will put on a great show for our 60th. Colin , Fin and Darcy have an amazing week planned and I hope everyone takes in all they have to offer.

At the AGM on Wednesday night I will not be running for re election. The eight years I have spent as your President of the BCFFCA has been exciting and has made me proud to be part of such a outstanding organization. I wish to Thank all of you for the opportunity to serve you and I will always cherish the time I had in office. I will be devoting my time to being the Vice President of the CFFCA.

2019 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championships. Our province is hosting this prestigious event in the beautiful city of Kelowna. Rick Euper has agreed to be the host convenor and any help we can give him would be greatly appreciated. The curling rink and hotel have been figured out and Rick has some help from the Fire Department in Kelowna. This is going to take some effort and support so let’s step up and help them out with whatever you can do. Thank you Rick for stepping up.

Again Thank you all for your support and let’s have some great curling and fun with friends!

Hi All. It is with a sad heart I let you know that a former BC Firefighters Champion from 2004 and team mate of mine for many years John Harrison passed away peacefully on September 2 / 2017 from cancer. He was 73 years of age.
John was a great friend and competitor. We had many laughs and serious moments. He was a volunteer FF with the Campbell River Fire Dept. for many years. He will be missed.

The BC Firefighters Curling Championship was held this past weekend in Chilliwack. We had 17 teams which is one of our lowest participation ever. Even with that Doug and his crew ran a great Spiel in a raging snowstorm. All who were there had a great time.
The BCFFCA would like to thank Steve Errington for his 9 years on the executive.
After 3 full days of curling we did declare a winner. For the record 4th year in a row the team of Skip Dean Thulin , Third Ken Dawson , Second Rob Robinson and Lead Mike Caton are the BCFFCA Champions. They will be traveling to Mississauga for the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championships from March 25 to April 2. Be sure to follow their games at www.cffca.ca.
Other winners from the event were
A winner Team Brad Clarke
C Winner Team Gary Falcon
Thank you to all the Firefighters who curled and those that offered support.
Next year is our 60th Anniversary of our Championship. We are celebrating with our 2018 BC Firefighters Curling Championships in out Capital city of Victoria. I would like all Firefighters who curl or who want to try to curl to enter individual or a team in next years Championship and celebrate with us. We would love to see you! Register at www.bcffca.ca.
Thank you and see you next year!
