This Folk Nut owes a lot to CKUA.
I first stumbled across CKUA on my old boombox while trying to study in my U of A dorm room. I was never much of a Top 40 guy, and alongside my regular helping of CBC, CKUA soon had me hooked.
Holger Petersen, Cam Hayden, Bill Coull and Cathy Ennis introduced me to artists I might never have heard otherwise. Great music, interesting conversations—and probably a little less studying than there should have been!
Over the years, I’ve booked countless artists I first heard on CKUA. Their hosts have been generous to Fish Creek Concerts, playing the music and spreading the word about our shows. Many have become friends.
Tom Coxworth, Andy Donnelly, Lark Clark, Leo Cripps, Grant Stovel and so many others keep giving us good reasons to listen.
It takes a village, and CKUA is a big part of ours. If you can, please lend a hand with a donation. Let’s keep CKUA on the air for its 100th birthday and beyond.
Good music deserves good company—and our support.
