Applications for Chinook Blast's 2027 Art Installation Artists close next week!

We're looking for architects, artists, designers, and students to submit proposals for innovative public art and design installations to be featured at the 2027 Chinook Blast Hub!

Have an idea for a vibrant, interactive experience? We want to hear from you!

Proposals must be submitted by Friday, July 24th, 2026, at 11:59pm MDT.

CALL OUT for Programming Partners! Winter may still be a ways away, but we're already dreaming big for Chinook Blast 2027! 🎪

We're looking for Programming Partners to host events, performances, and live experiences that bring Calgary's winter spirit to life. Whether it's an artistic performance, a sporting event, or a one-of-a-kind activation, if you can get people excited, we want to hear from you!

Selected programming partners may receive funding of up to $5,000 (inclusive of GST).

CALL OUT for Installation Artists! Want to leave your mark on Calgary this winter? ❄️

Chinook Blast 2027 is calling for innovative art and design installations that will transform our festival site of Eau Claire Plaza & Prince's Island Lagoon. We're looking for creative proposals that invite people to stop, play and explore, inspire outdoor winter activity, and celebrate the best of Calgary as a winter city. Selected installations will be showcased at the Chinook Blast Hub at Eau Claire Plaza & Prince's Island Lagoon throughout the festival, running Friday, January 29th to Monday, February 15th, 2027.

Funding opportunities range from $2,000–$20,000. This callout is open to artists, architects, designers, students, and multi-disciplinary teams, locally and beyond, with priority given to Calgary-based creators.

Calgary, you showed UP ❄️

Chinook Blast 2026 is in the books, and what a ride it’s been.

Eau Claire Plaza transformed into a full-on light-up playground, packed with world-class talent, community energy, and winter magic at every turn.

Family Day Long Weekend closed us out in style with stacked lineups, day and night performances, and a mix of new discoveries and festival favourites.

It was a Chinook-fueled season from start to finish and we’re riding this momentum straight into spring.

Last call, Calgary!

We’re wrapping up Family Day with an afternoon packed with good vibes and solid beats.

🕛 Noon – 4 PM
Kicking things off, two powerhouse artists from Ethnik Festivals take the stage: Afropop sensation Skinny Blaiz and R&B singer/songwriter Ray Val 🔥

Then, Dhanak will bring the Bollywood Jam, blending contemporary South Asian sounds with high-energy pop you’ll feel.

Closing us out, DJ Jadé takes over with her signature genre-bending sound to end the festival on a high note 🎶

Plus, keep an eye out for Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff from YYC Princess, along with roving puppeteers from the Festival of Animated Objects! In the artists' tent, Green Fools will be bringing us a fun Child Complaint Letter activation. 📝
