This is part of an amazing grant we received from SPARC and Heritage Canada to promote the work of the YOA and an exciting future project.

DCE Media was out shooting one of 3 interviews for a video being done for the YOA Youth Opportunities in the Arts.

This afternoon's interview was with Deborah Dunleavy and Howard Alexander.

We had a great time!!!

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES IN THE ARTS is happy to announce two very exciting upcoming events on Saturday, August 21 which will take place at St. John's United
Church in Brockville (32 Park Street):

Starting at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary, the YOA is delighted to announce a Meet the Author/ Book Signing event featuring Rod Carley, a Brockville native who was inducted into the Brockville and Area Music and Performing Arts Hall of Fame in 2018. Carley has recently won a silver medal award for literature for his novel Kinmount, a comic tale of a director who fights for theatre quality and artistic freedom as he tries to direct a play in rural Ontario with a cast and crew of eccentric and raunchy locals.
Rod Carley will perform a reading from his novel and then answer questions from the audience about writing, theatre and publishing. Rod's novel Kinmount will be available for sale.

As we emerge from our covid darkness, please join us at the YOA's first fundraising event in two years. In the Lower Hall, the YOA will be having a garage sale on Saturday, August 21 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. Wonderful items for everyone including things that will be perfect for students returning back to school. There will be $1.00, $2.00 and $5.00 tables. Items of greater value will be priced accordingly. But we are always willing to make a deal!

Hope to see you at these events. For more info, please contact Alex at [email protected]
