Melcolm Banks is Counting the Days to the 2026 Local Racing Kick Off
By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media
There has always been a place for talented young drivers in the local racing ranks.

After advancing through the track’s go kart and Novice Sportsman divisions, Melcolm Banks made his first start in the Brockville Ontario Speedway 358 Modified class during the 2025 schedule. Although he has yet to claim a feature event win, the talented youngster from Portland, Ontario finished 10th in the overall standings, netting a pair of top 10 efforts in a field that saw nearly 35 different runners score points in at least a single event. He was also 13th in the final Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series points.

Along the way, the pilot of the No. M75 Small Block Modified cracked the starting field in each of the track’s 2025 Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series dates and also made history as the youngest ever race winner at Brockville, taking the checkered flag in a Novice Sportsman feature event August 10th of 2024 at the age of 12. Away from the comfort of his home track, Banks was 13th in the 2025 75 lap Applefest Shootout for 358 Modifieds at Brighton Speedway.
“I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be than at the racetrack with my family and friends every weekend,” said Melcolm Banks, who is getting ready for another season in Brockville Ontario Speedway’s DIRTcar 358 Modified division. “The Banks family has a rich heritage in the sport. Ab and Ed Banks were weekly competitors at the former Kingston Speedway, while my grandfather and father raced at Brockville before me. I’m lucky to have some great racing history to build on.”

With the regular season kick-off at the popular Southeastern Ontario raceway coming up Melcolm Banks will head into opening night with sponsorship backing from Kason Farm Inc, King Edward Auto & Performance, CHE – Cylinder Head Engineering, Baker’s Feed Store Ltd., Nasa Global, D&J Transportation, Herlehy Home Hardware, Willard’s Bakery, Hewitt’s Livestock, French’s Trucking, Lifetime Cemetery Memorials, RL Asphalt, Levac Propane, Willow’s Agri Services, Milk, Welch’s Drywall, A1 Siding and Clarke Motorsports Communications.
With the 2026 season at Brockville Ontario Speedway taking the green flag Saturday, May 16th with the opening round of the Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Triple Crown Series, family, friends and fans can keep an eye on the young 14-year-old’s 2nd season of action at the track or follow the team’s weekly progress through the ‘BanksRacing75’ page on Facebook.

Champions Crowned as Brockville Speedway Wraps Up Stellar 2025 Season

By: Tim Baltz

A full crowd was on hand this past Saturday night at the Brockville Legion to honour the top drivers from the 2025 racing season at the Brockville Ontario Speedway.

After many successful seasons in Sportsman and 358 Modified, Tristan Draper finally put together a strong season to scored his first career DIRTCar 358 Modified track championship. The Harrowsmith Ontario native led in all categories with 3 wins, 12 top 5s and 13 top 10 finishes in 2025 and claim the title by 43 points over his title rival. Draper will be back in 2026 to try and defend the title. Johnathon Ferguson may have finished runner up in points in 2025, but did end a long winless drought at Brockville, that went back to the 2022 season. Along with his only win of the season on June 7th, Ferguson scored 8 top 5s and 11 top 10 finishes in 13 events. 2012 358 Modified track champion Kyle Dingwall finished third in the championship in 2025 driving for the Polite Racing Team. Kyle drove to his first win for the team and 23rd of his Brockville career on June 28th. The team also scored 7 top 5s and 11 top 10 finishes on the year. Kalen Draper claimed the 4th spot in the championship fight, which included his 4th career 358 Modified win on August 9th, the 4th straight year he has claimed at least 1 win. Draper finished the year with3 top 5s and 11 top 10s. Gabriel Cyr of Cornwall rounded out the top 5 posting his first two career wins along with 7 top 5s and 10 top 10 finishes. St. Hyacinthe Quebec’s Steve Bernier was once again crowned the Ogilvie’s Series champion, the third driver to win the title in back to back years joining Danny O’Brien and Ryan Arbuthnot in that category. Bernier bested multi-time Cornwall champion Corey Wheeler by 4 points for the championship. Melcolm Banks was honoured as Rookie of the Year for the 2025 season, becoming the youngest driver to finish in the top 10 in points at Brockville finishing 10th at the age of 13.

Elginburg Ontario’s Bobby Herrington stood atop the DIRTCar Sportsman division for a record 5th straight year as the track champion. Herrington, who will make the move back to the 358 Modified division in 2026, had another outstanding year, which included 6 wins and 13 top 5 finishes. He leaves the division with 40 Brockville wins, good for third on the all time list, a record 5 straight track titles and 3 Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series titles. Jessica Power of Kingston was second in the title chase and was the only driver to finish in the top 10 in all 14 races in 2025. She also claimed 1 win on the year in August and will be back to chase her first Sportsman title in 2026. Dylan Kirkland had a solid year finishing 3rd in points. Kirkland finally broke through for his first career feature win on August 23rd last year. The win was big as it also locked up the Ogilvie’s Series championship, his first title at Brockville since he won a Mini Stock title in 2017. Xavier Andrews of Kingston came back to Brockville for a full season in 2025 and was a solid front runner claiming 10 top 5s and 13 top 10s in 14 starts with a best finish of 2nd twice. Completing the top 5 in Sportsman points was Matt Barbour, who came close to winning a feature on multiple nights last year, scored a pair of runner up finishes. Barbour also was co-runner up with Jessica Power in the Ogilvie’s Series as well. Chris Hale was declared Rookie of the year in the Sportsman ranks finishing 8th in points after many seasons in the full fender Street Stock division.

Clayton Celovsky took top honours in 2025 for the Mini Stock division. In just his second full time season Celovsky had a great year picking up a feature win and 6 top 5 finishes along the way. Along with his first track title, Celovsky also took the title in the Brockville Ontario Speedway Mini Stock Series. Runner up Mike Saunders also had a great year picking up his first career win one year ago narrowly missing the title by 4 points. The top 5 was completed by 222 track champion Jamie Larocque, who was the only two-time winner on the year with Hayden Brown finishing 4th in points with a feature win. Marc Dagenais completed the top 5 in points, which also featured a win on opening day.

Gananoque Ontario’s Mike Schonauer stood atop the standings in the Street Stock division for 2025. What’s impressive is that he claimed the championship without winning a feature all year. Schonauer will be back in 2026 and is still looking to secure his first career feature win. Charles Marchand was the only driver to claim two feature wins in 2025 and nearly scored his first Brockville title, missing by just 8 points at seasons end. The top 5 was completed by Francis Gauthier, who won his first career feature on August 30th last season, Vincent Charbonneau was 4th, also with one win. Brad Taillon was another first time winner last year, finishing 5th in points.

Kyle Kudrinko had a dominant season taking the 2025 Novice Sportsman championship. Kudrinko was never out of the top 5 in all 13 races last year and along the way scored 4 feature wins, including two of the final three point races on August 16th and August 23rd. Tessa Riemersma was the driver that surprised everyone in her very first Brockville start, claiming the season opener on May 10th. She was able to back that performance up with solid runs including 4 runner up finishes during the year. Damien King is still in search of that first career win and was a consistent front runner last season. He scored his career best finish of 2nd on May 10th and will be back to try for that first career win in 2026. Cory Lambert claimed the 4th spot winning two races in late July before moving up to the regular Sportsman division. Cole Hannah got late start to the year but was able to break in the top 5 in points with a best finish of 3rd in 2025.

Theresa New York’s Josh Verne Jr. absolutely dominated the Surprenant Truck Shop Crate Sprint Car division this past year. The divisions all time win leader scored a record 8 wins in 2025 including an impressive 6 consecutive, another division record. He becomes the first American born driver to win the Sprint Car title at the speedway. Alexandria’s Lee Ladouceur also ran a full 358 Modified season but scored 7 runner up finishes in his Sprint Car, before finally getting to victory lane in October at the Fall Nationals event. 2022 track champion Ryan Poole used consistency to claim the third spot in the standings with a best finish of third on opening day. Liam Ladouceur claimed Rookie of the Year honours in the division finishing 4th in points and got close to his first career win with best finish of third on August 9th of last year. Adam Turner ran 9 events in 2025 but was the only other multi-time winner claiming two wins and will be back for a full season this year.

The 2026 racing season is not too far away as opening day is set for May 16th at Brockville, which will feature the opener for the Ogilvie’s Triple Crown Series for the DIRTCar 358 Modified and DIRTCar Sportsman divisions. Also on the card will see the Suprenant Truck Shop Crate Sprints, Novice Sportsman, Mini Stock and Street Stocks. An open practice session is scheduled for May 9th from 1-4pm with gates opening at 11:30am.

Adam Turner is Fired Up About Plans for his 2026 Racing Season
By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media
With the pressures of travel, behind the scenes car preparation and raceday performance, weekly racing can start to feel like a full-time job.
From his early days of following his father’s career, to his own accomplishments and now as a mentor and supporter of his son’s development in the go kart racing ranks of the sport, Adam Turner has been a fixture on the local racing scene for most of his life.
The 43-year-old from Picton, Ontario is looking forward to getting his new season of action underway. While some racers are thinking of scaling back their plans, Turner has a passion for the sport that has seen him pick up rides in other divisions in addition to his own No. 92 Crate Sprint Car program. In many ways, Adam Turner’s quest for chasing racing is a throwback to earlier days of being at the track.

“I really can’t think of anything that I haven’t raced sometime or somewhere over the years,” admitted the multi-generational Prince Edward County speedster. “From Street Stocks to Late Models. Sportsman and Small Block Modifieds. I’ve raced and won in a 4 Cylinder, Street Stock, Vintage Mod, Sportsman-Modified, Late Model and Crate Sprint Car. It isn’t about making money. I’m having a lot of fun and I’ve met some great people over the years.”

With the new schedules getting ready to launch soon, Adam Turner Racing will run weekly on Friday nights at Can Am Speedway and Saturdays at Brockville, where he finished 5th in points and had a couple of wins during the 2025 schedule. The team will also follow the next generation of the Action Sprint Tour and a few other events as his work and family commitments will allow.
Wherever his team travels during the 2026 schedule, Adam Turner Racing is happy to be supported by Village Variety, Maple Bin Services, Dafoe Roofing, Rapid Rad, Angie’s Pooper Pumping Septic Service, BJ McColl Farms, Surprenant Truck Shop, Quinte Auto Glass, R&T Grosse Trucking, Dave’s Moonshine, Gates Graphics, Easton Law, South Buxton Speedway and Clarke Motorsports Communications, with crew members Race Turner, Robert Pounder, Jeff Holmes, Dave Gates and Easton Holmes to keep things together behind the scenes and at the track. Like most short track racing operations, the team is always interested in hearing from potential marketing partners. [email protected]

Fans and family members can follow Adam Turner at their favourite racetrack or stay up to date with the team’s progress during the season on the Adam Turner Racing page on Facebook.

𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐲: 𝐃𝐘𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘 / 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 - 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍, 𝐎𝐍 - One name that many race fans throughout the Northeast are familiar with is Jessica Power.

Most notably known for her success in the DIRTcar Sportsman division, Jessica’s career has been on an upward trajectory ever since she began racing in the mini-stock division back during the 2004 season.

The 2026 season presents a new opportunity for Jessica and the JPR team.

After making several scattered small block starts throughout the past few years in both the JPR #52 and the Jenik #35, Power will now be partnering up with Buzzell Racing out of Renfrew, ON this coming summer to run a 358 Modified on a part-time basis.

As of now, both sides are still working to compile an eight race schedule, which is the maximum number of events that they can participate in this season as Jessica will also still be a full-time DIRTcar Sportsman competitor.

If the part-time slate goes well, there is a possibility that the operation transitions to a full-time 358 Modified Small Block team for the 2027 season.

“I’m excited and thankful for this opportunity,” said Jessica. “I look forward to working with a great family and team this year.”

Buzzell Racing was originally formed in the 1970’s by Doug Buzzell Sr. After a brief hiatus, the team was reinstated in 2008 with Ryan Buzzell behind the wheel, and then Doug Buzzell Jr. was the most recent driver from 2010 up until this past season.

The Buzzell family made the difficult decision to step away from day to day racing operations for the 2026 season, primarily focusing on their business and family, but they still also wanted to stay involved in racing when they are available.

Conversation commenced between the two parties, and a deal was struck.

“When the idea came to step away from day to day operations, Jessica and her team were an easy choice” said co-owner Ryan Buzzell. “Their commitment to excellence both on and off the track is second to none.”

A new car design for 2026 reflects a true teamwork effort between both teams.

The Buzzell Racing entry will be rebranded as the #58, which is a nod to Power’s #52 car she has driven throughout the entirety of her career and the Buzzell’s #80 ride that they have campaigned in recent seasons.

The colors of the car feature Jessica’s traditional black and orange, while also featuring the blue, black, and white colors that the Buzzell cars have displayed in previous years.

The effort between the sides will be supported by Pirie Insulation and Spray Foam, Mobil 1, Jenik Groupe, Eibach and Bilstein.

Be sure to keep an eye out on the Jessica Power Racing social media pages for a schedule announcement in the coming weeks.
