I’ve been holding onto this news for quite some time, and today I’m proud to finally share it.
Last year, I received an email from the Juno Awards team informing me that my name had been put forward by the South Asian Music Advisory Committee as someone they believed would make an excellent judge for the South Asian Music Recording of the Year category.
Reading those words was a surreal moment.
For over 15 years, I’ve dedicated myself to the entertainment industry through IDMedia—supporting artists, promoting music, building relationships, creating opportunities, and helping amplify South Asian voices across Canada and beyond. To be recognized by industry leaders and entrusted with this responsibility is something I will never take for granted.
This year, I had the honour of serving as a judge for the 55th Juno Awards in the South Asian Music Recording of the Year category.
Growing up as a fan of Punjabi music, I never imagined that one day I would have the opportunity to help evaluate and celebrate the incredible artists, producers, songwriters, and creators shaping the future of South Asian music in Canada. To have a seat at the table and contribute to recognizing excellence on Canada’s biggest music stage is a true privilege.
What makes this moment even more meaningful is seeing how far South Asian music has come. Watching our culture receive the recognition it deserves on a national platform fills me with immense pride and optimism for the future.
A heartfelt thank you to the South Asian Music Advisory Committee and the Juno Awards team for their trust and confidence. Thank you as well to every artist, client, colleague, friend, and family member who has been part of this journey.
There are moments in your career that remind you why you started.
Being selected as a Juno Awards judge is one of those moments for me.
A milestone. A privilege. A responsibility.
And without question, one of the proudest achievements of my career.
