As the countdown to the 2026 rodeo season begins, we turn our focus to the athletes who defined the year before those who rose to the moment, overcame adversity, and earned their place among the CCA’s elite.

This is Champion’s Mindset: Allee Kappeller
2025 CCA Finals Junior Girls Barrel Racing Champion

For Allee Kappeller, the 2025 season marked a milestone that had been building with every run, every mile and every lesson along the way.

Winning the 2025 title at the Canadian Cowboys Association Finals was more than just a result it was validation.

“Winning the 2025 CCA Finals is an achievement that I have worked for,” she says. “It’s a step forward toward my goals.”

Like many championships, confidence was built in key moments and for Kappeller, that came early in the week.

“My biggest moment was winning the first round,” she explains. “Knowing I have the ability to be there and can accomplish it.”

That belief carried her forward, reinforcing that she belonged among the top competitors. Looking ahead to 2026, her focus is clear and grounded in progression.

“My goal is to make the CCA Finals in the Ladies Barrel Racing.”

It’s a natural next step for a competitor already proving her place in the arena. But behind the results is a mindset shaped by consistency and perspective.

When setbacks come as they always do in rodeo, Kappeller focuses on moving forward.

“I look toward the next run and try to find something positive in each run, not focusing on the negative parts.”

That ability to reset is critical in a sport where each run stands on its own. If there’s one word that defines her approach, it’s simple:

Effort.

“I always try my best and put my best foot forward.”

That work ethic shows not just in competition, but in the details of her event especially in the partnership with her horse.

“The hardest part is letting go of control and trusting my horse,” she says. “He knows what to I just have to let him do his job.”

That trust, built over time, is what turns good runs into great ones.

Along the way, the journey has also been shaped by experiences on the road like competing at her favorite rodeo, the Virden Indoor Rodeo & Wild West Daze.

And while the championship is a major accomplishment, it’s clear this is just the beginning.

With confidence building, goals set higher and a mindset rooted in effort and trust, Allee Kappeller is already looking ahead to the next step in her rodeo journey.

At the kid zone, you may have seen some activity books and children's books on hand, or possibly even taken one home for your child.

Local author, Kelley Byrne wrote these books and generously donated them for our children's enjoyment over the weekend. If you're looking for a rodeo-based, locally written children's book, you've found it. We appreciate Kelley's donations, which brought joy to our children at the rodeo! 🤠🎠📚🎉
