As we continue through the final session of our 2026 Music Festival, our dedicated board members are still hard at work behind the scenes.

One of those important tasks is preparing the scholarship certificates, ensuring each recipient receives a beautifully handwritten keepsake to mark their achievement.

There’s something special about bringing out a classic pen and the art of calligraphy, a thoughtful touch that makes these awards even more meaningful. I’m sure Teri Hanstock would agree! ✒️

What a wonderful day of performances! It’s been great to see so much talent and support throughout today’s sessions.

Tomorrow marks the final day of the Assiniboia & District Music Festival, and we will be closing out the festival with a vocal session from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Assiniboia Alliance Church.

The morning will feature a variety of vocal performances, including musical theatre, folk songs, and recital pieces; bringing the festival to a strong and memorable finish.

🎤 Fun fact: Singing can actually help improve breathing and posture, as it encourages proper breath control and support.

Admission is by donation, and printed programs will be available for purchase at the door.

The afternoon session is underway, and there’s still more to come!

Tonight from 7:00–9:30 PM at Assiniboia Alliance Church, enjoy an evening of musical theatre and choir performances.

Be sure to stay and take part in the People’s Choice Award, where audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite musical theatre performance of the evening.

🎭 Musical Theatre Fun fact: One of the first modern musicals, Show Boat (1927), was known for telling a continuous story through both songs and dialogue.

Admission is by donation, and printed programs will be available for purchase at the door.

As we wrap up another great day at the festival, we’re looking ahead to tomorrow’s afternoon session on March 19 from 1:00–5:00 PM at Assiniboia Alliance Church.

This session will feature an afternoon of piano performances, showcasing a variety of styles and levels as performers take the stage.

🎹 Fun fact: The piano is used in almost every genre of music—from classical and jazz to pop and film scores.

Admission is by donation, and printed programs will be available for purchase at the door.

Our afternoon session is in full swing, and it’s been wonderful to see so many great performances and support from the audience throughout the day!

Coming up next, the festival continues this evening on March 18 from 7:00–9:30 PM at Assiniboia Alliance Church with an evening of piano performances.

This session will feature a variety of styles including sacred music, Baroque, jazz, Canadian repertoire, and contemporary pieces, showcasing the range and talent of our performers.

🎹 Musical fun fact: The longest piano piece ever written lasts over 18 hours!

Admission is by donation, and printed programs will be available for purchase at the door.
