The Antigonish Jazz Festival is a strong example of the work and dedication of the Antigonish Tourism Association (ATA). Recognizing a need to strengthen tourism during Antigonish’s shoulder season, ATA created the festival as a way to bring people into the community at a traditionally quieter time of year. Five years later, the festival continues to thrive as a sustainable three-day event, welcoming up to 1,000 attendees, including both local residents and visitors from outside the area. Its continued success would not be possible without the commitment, planning, and support of ATA, whose efforts have helped create an event that supports local businesses, showcases talented musicians, and brings the community together. From Antigonish to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, StFX music professor Paul Tynan is taking jazz to the international stage with students Matthew Patstone and Alex Mills. The trio will perform, learn, collaborate, and see where the music takes them at the 2026 International Association of Schools of Jazz conference.
