🌸 Wist je dat...? 🌸
Dit prachtige patroon heet Ajisai Sashi (あじさい刺し), vernoemd naar de ajisai of hortensia. De kleine stervormige steken vormen samen een patroon dat doet denken aan de vele bloemetjes waaruit een hortensiabol is opgebouwd.
In Japan staan hortensia's symbool voor de regentijd en bloeien ze uitbundig in juni. Daarom zijn ze een geliefd motief in traditionele kunst en handwerken.

This beautiful pattern is called Ajisai Sashi (あじさい刺し), named after the ajisai, or hydrangea. The small star-shaped stitches come together to create a design reminiscent of the many tiny flowers that form a hydrangea bloom.
In Japan, hydrangeas are closely associated with the rainy season and reach their peak bloom in June. This is why they are such a beloved motif in traditional arts and crafts.
