🌬️ STEEL GRASS

Supple as a blade of grass and shiny like the most polished steel, Steel Grass sway in the wind. Steel Grass tells us about the joyful and changing agitation of molecules in our atmosphere.

🪜 LADDER

Conquering the air. In the end, wouldn’t the simplest way for the Cartesian mind be a ladder, with more and more rungs, stretched towards the sky? It is this quest for celestial height that Jean-Pierre David, with Aérosculpture, visits and questions by proposing this aerostatic ladder which attempts the impossible.

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley (b. 1995, London) lives and works between Berlin and London. Working predominantly in animation, sound, performance and video game development, and with a background in DIY print media and activism, the artist’s practice focuses on intertwining lived experience with fiction to imaginatively retell stories of people they seek to archive. Danielle utilizes interactive technologies to create participatory spaces that challenge traditional narratives and encourage active engagement, ultimately creating experiences in which the audience itself becomes the main medium.

And this year, there will be more than one way to discover her work: Mapping the Invisible, created with Carlos Martorell & Jaume Vidal, will also be part of the KIKK Festival Art Trail.

Lauren Moffatt builds immersive worlds where digital and organic life entangle. Combining algorithmic and hand-crafted processes, she turns bodies, ecosystems, and words into hybrid AR, VR, and sculptural works. Her worlds span nocturnal forests, speculative coral reefs, an island-body mapped from internal states, and an oversized diatom archive of the Ebro Delta. In 2026, she was awarded the PHotoESPAÑA Digital Art Prize. Her work has been shown at Centre Pompidou (FR), Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TW), Matadero Madrid (ES) and Zabludowicz Collection (UK). She lives and works in Valencia (ES).

Lauren Moffatt construit des mondes immersifs où vies numérique et organique s'entremêlent. Combinant des processus algorithmiques et artisanaux, elle transforme corps, écosystèmes et mots en œuvres hybrides mêlant AR, VR et sculpture. Ses univers traversent des forêts nocturnes, des récifs coralliens spéculatifs, un corps-île cartographié à partir d'états internes et une archive surdimensionnée de diatomées du delta de l'Èbre. En 2026, elle a reçu le PHotoESPAÑA Digital Art Prize. Son travail a été présenté au Centre Pompidou (FR), au Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TW), à Matadero Madrid (ES) et à la Zabludowicz Collection (UK). Mapping the Invisible: produced in residency in the Ebro Delta with Festival Eufònic within the framework of the Co-Vision project funded by Creative Europe.

Joining the KIKK Festival 2026 Art Trail: Earthscapes / 35°2′4.34″N, 135°43′5.51″E, by Anna Godzina, with support from SOILSCAPE Project. (Français ci-dessous)

The installation consists of platforms inspired by the “stone islands” of the Ryōan-ji garden in Kyoto. Each platform is covered with a layer of fine iron powder, sourced from a rusted sea wall.

Beneath the powder’s surface lies a second dimension of the artwork: mechanical arms with powerful magnets rotate slowly. With each turn, the iron comes to life; the particles stand upright whenever a magnet passes beneath.

Earthscapes / 35°2′4.34″N, 135°43′5.51″E, d’Anna Godzina, rejoint l’Art Trail du KIKK Festival 2026, avec le soutien de SOILSCAPE Project.

L’installation se compose de plateformes inspirées des « îles de pierre » du jardin Ryōan-ji à Kyoto. Chaque plateforme est recouverte d’une couche de fine poudre de fer provenant d’une digue rouillée.

Sous la surface de la poudre se cache une seconde dimension de l’œuvre : des bras mécaniques équipés de puissants aimants tournent lentement. À chaque rotation, le fer prend vie ; les particules se dressent chaque fois qu’un aimant passe en dessous.

Joining us at KIKK Festival 2026 as a speaker: Victor Verhelst. (Français ci-dessous 👇)

Victor Verhelst is a Belgian visual artist operating at the intersection of digital media, spatial design, and material innovation. Rooted in the ongoing digital universe of 'Trippy Vegas'—a self-expanding virtual metropolis—his autonomous practice translates digital canvases into tangible, physical mediums. Verhelst's aesthetics are defined by the distortion and juxtaposition of 2D and 3D image planes, resulting in a distinct dialogue between pre-made digital imagery and traditional tactility, spanning risography, large-scale textile, and interactive gaming technologies.

Deeply committed to local industry and craftsmanship, Verhelst frequently collaborates with regional manufacturers, as demonstrated by his textile installation developed with Fedustria for the WONDER Creativity Festival. His multidisciplinary approach bridges the gap between contemporary art, commercial innovation, and public space, having executed projects for prominent cultural institutions alongside commissions for corporate partners like Volvo and spatial integration projects for the Dutch Government Architect (Rijksbouwmeester).

Victor Verhelst rejoint le KIKK Festival 2026 en tant que speaker.

Victor Verhelst est un artiste visuel belge dont la pratique se situe à l'intersection des médias numériques, du design spatial et de l'innovation matérielle. Ancrée dans l'univers numérique en constante évolution de « Trippy Vegas », une métropole virtuelle qui s'étend d'elle-même, sa pratique autonome transpose des toiles numériques vers des supports tangibles et physiques. L'esthétique de Verhelst se définit par la distorsion et la juxtaposition de plans d'images 2D et 3D, créant un dialogue singulier entre imagerie numérique préexistante et matérialité traditionnelle, de la risographie aux textiles grand format en passant par les technologies de jeu interactives.

Profondément attaché à l'industrie et à l'artisanat locaux, Verhelst collabore régulièrement avec des fabricants régionaux, comme en témoigne son installation textile développée avec Fedustria pour le WONDER Creativity Festival. Son approche multidisciplinaire crée des ponts entre art contemporain, innovation commerciale et espace public.

The installation consists of platforms inspired by the “stone islands” of the Ryōan-ji garden in Kyoto. Each platform is covered with a layer of fine iron powder, sourced from a rusted sea wall. When iron is exposed to seawater for a prolonged period, it rusts, becoming fragile and brittle. With great precision, Godzina extracted the iron from the weathered wall and ground it finely in her studio. This iron powder was then carefully spread over the rectangular platforms.

Beneath the powder’s surface lies a second dimension of the artwork: mechanical arms with powerful magnets rotate slowly. With each turn, the iron comes to life; the particles stand upright whenever a magnet passes beneath. This continuous motion creates concentric rings in the iron powder, reminiscent of the serene patterns found in the Ryōan-ji Zen garden, where gravel is meticulously raked into wave-like formations.

Lorsque le fer est exposé à l’eau de mer pendant une période prolongée, il rouille, devenant fragile et cassant. Avec une grande précision, Godzina a extrait le fer de la paroi altérée et l’a finement broyé dans son atelier. Cette poudre de fer a ensuite été soigneusement répartie sur les plateformes rectangulaires.

Sous la surface de la poudre se cache une seconde dimension de l’œuvre : des bras mécaniques équipés de puissants aimants tournent lentement. À chaque rotation, le fer prend vie ; les particules se dressent chaque fois qu’un aimant passe en dessous. Ce mouvement continu crée des anneaux concentriques dans la poudre de fer, rappelant les motifs sereins du jardin zen Ryōan-ji, où le gravier est méticuleusement ratissé pour former des ondulations.

Joining the KIKK Festival 2026 Art Trail: Mapping the Invisible, by Carlos Martorell, Jaume Vidal & Lauren Moffatt.

The augmented reality, generative sound, and sculpture project Mapping the Invisible explores aquatic ecosystems through the lens of new technologies and scientific data. Taking diatoms - essential yet almost imperceptible microscopic algae that perform 20% of photosynthesis on Earth - as its subject matter, the project builds an augmented reality and data sonification experience that amplifies the unseeable and unimaginable on a virtual stage. Mapping the Invisible invites its visitors to look at aquatic ecosystems like that of the Ebro Delta, or the Meuse-Sambre confluence of Namur, and what they mean for the broader ecology of our world, through different eyes

Mapping the Invisible, de Carlos Martorell, Jaume Vidal & Lauren Moffatt, rejoint l'Art Trail du KIKK Festival 2026.

Ce projet mêlant réalité augmentée, son génératif et sculpture explore les écosystèmes aquatiques à travers le prisme des nouvelles technologies et des données scientifiques. Prenant pour sujet les diatomées, des algues microscopiques essentielles mais presque imperceptibles qui réalisent 20 % de la photosynthèse sur Terre, le projet construit une expérience de réalité augmentée et de sonification de données qui amplifie l'invisible et l'inimaginable sur une scène virtuelle. Mapping the Invisible invite les visiteurs à regarder les écosystèmes aquatiques, comme celui du delta de l'Èbre ou la confluence Meuse-Sambre à Namur, et ce qu'ils représentent pour l'écologie plus large de notre monde, avec un regard différent.

Produit en résidence dans le delta de l'Èbre avec le Festival Eufònic dans le cadre du projet Co-Vision financé par Creative Europe.
